Could someone please look on the 1891 and 1901 census for William Henson born 1853 Granby Notts. I am trying to make sense of his daughters marriage certificate Gertrude Eliza Henson born 1877 Bingham Notts, on the certificate it states her father is George Smith. I am baffled why she is a Henson. I don't even know if this is the right family, I have been looking for Gertrude for a long time without much success. Thank you Kay

K I am still not sure about that family, in 1901 Gertrude is only 12, my Gertrude is 24 living with her sons in Granby. She is a mystery Thanks Kay

Hi K This one is a possibility but I have a William Henson on Gertrudes Marriage cert has a witness so I assumed ( I know never assume) he would maybe the father although her real father is George Smith. Kay

Kay Most of my relatives had siblings rather than parents as witnesses and in 1881Gertude had a sibling William. The real problem is her birth was not near Granby and Charles Smith was a servant K
