Hi I'm looking for the place of burial for a George Powell details below, not sure if can get death cert details from records office though without getting the actual cert. Burial details are not recorded on a death cert........the cert gives info about the death only. Reg |

Thanks - I thought so. What details do you get is it the same as on a marriage cert? Not sure how I'll find out where he's buried! Thanks for your help. |

Death cert gives name of deceased and when and where s/he died, cause of death, details of informant of death - but it doesn't always state the relationship. Male deaths give occupation. Female deaths state whether the woman was a wife or widow and then give details of husband's occupation. To find a burial, you need to check the parish burial registers for the relevant parish(es). These generally give date of burial and name and age of deceased, and sometimes a parish, if they are from a different one from where they are buried. Later on, more churchyards were full, so you can get a list of cemeteries and crematoria and contact details from the relevant local council website. Some websites have searchable databases; other places charge to do look ups. Some burials are on the NBI (National Burial Index) and many of these are on www.familyhistoryonline.net. This is a payperview site, so check that the parish(es) and times you want are covered in the list of databases first. nell |
