The 1901 Census for England was taken on the night of 31 March 1901 So no they would not have been married, better start looking for Louisa Burge then lol. Sorry but its time for bed for me, up at 5.30 for work, if you have not solved it, will take a look tommorrow evening for you. Keith PS enumeration was the act of recording the census of the population by the enumerator.

Keith A puzzle that i can't solve at present. The only clues we have is that was where william was born (it's on his birth cert) and his dad Thomas being a gypsy they might have located there. In 1901 the rest of Thomas's family are in Ramsgate in kent, but i can not find louisa or Thomas in either Ramsgate or Farnham in the 1901 census. Would they have been married when the 1901 census was done? (Thomas was not with the rest of his family in 1901)Not sure in which month the census took place in 1901. Along 5 year wait till the 1911 census comes out! Thanks for looking xxx Just seen your last message! What is enumeration?

Deborah unfortunately there does not appear to be a Thomas and Louisa in Farnham, William would not of course be on the census if he was born in November. What would have made them travel to Farnham if they married in Salisbury? Just seen last post, maybe if they were gypsies, they were not enumerated?

Keith Thomas was born Arundel in Sussex in 1871. Took this info from tracing him in the census records. In the 1891 census he was in Eastbourne, he was a travelling gypsy with his family. Married Louisa 20th July 1901 St Edmond parish Church Wiltshire, Salisbury. William was born nov 1901 and on his birth cert says he was born in the Bakers Arms! Not sure wether they were lodging or living there! As travelling gypsies it's hard to know whether they set up home there or used it as a place to live with the baby for a while. Many thanks xxx

Deborah, unfortunately Ancestry does not have the address search facility that censusonline does, so without a name it could be a very very long job, will check for Thomas and Louisa and see if I can find them. Have you any idea where Thomas was born was it wiltshire as they married there? Keith

Deborah, what was your grandfathers name and when approx was he born? Without it on ancestry it means viewing every image for Farnham to try and find the correct one. This is at a guess approx 400 images!. Keith
