Thomas Hickling married Mary Wylde in 1787 at Nottingham. Can anyone tell me were Thomas was from. |

Unfortunately, even the marriage record will only say 'of this parish'.........or not, as the case may be........ Reg |

I have seen marriage registers that say 'of this parish' or 'of the parish of Bloggtown', but this just means where the person was living at the time of the marriage, which may be a convenience address for the purpose of the wedding. It doesn't tell you where they were born, any more than a more recent marriage cert would. |
