Hi Shirley and Fiona It looks like our emma married a John Middleton but the children were not registered in his name. They married after Milly was born. So it looks like our Emma was a naughty girl. Jane

Fiona I hadn't thought of that Emma could have been married before which is why i can't find Millys birth. I will have to check this out. Also Harry is probably John and Emmas child. He was born abt 1881. The other Harry mentioned on the 1871 was John and Eliza's son. Shirley thank you for looking for Millys birth i guess Fiona is probably right in guessing she was registered in a different name. Thank you both very much for all your help Jane.

Shes not registered as Milly Abel/Abell/Able,searched all just to be sure, 1866-1868 inc. on Ancestry Shirley

In the 1871 census Harry is son to John and Eliza, not grandson.

Hi Jane, If John and Emma are Milly's parents and they were married after Milly's birth then Milly would most likely be registered in her mothers maiden name. Might also be that John is not Milly's father give she was 4 and Edward was 4 months, with that age gap it could be that Emma had Milly before she met John.

Hi Fiona Yes that is my family. It seems that John and Emma Milly's parents married after the children were born. I was just trying to confirm their dates of birth.
