Hi all Many thanks for your time so far. This is a complicated one, of course. This family are not actually Truman's, they are in fact Hedgecock's, well the wife & children are not sure about James though. The James that Jane married was a James Hedgecock but he was born 1868/9 according to 1881 census, marriage & death certificates. This James occupation was to do with Printing. All the children were registered as Hedgecock, but I couldn't find this lot in the 1891/1901 census. James & Jane's 1st child Susan was found in 1901 census living with Janes mother, but using the name Truman that's when the rest of the family were found in Chester Street. I was hoping that they might show up as Truman's in 1891 Once again many thanks Janice

Very curious. So far I have not found the births or wedding. Do you have any of these. It suggests that they are under a different name in 1891, but what is it? Jim

Hi everyone I'm looking for a family with the surname TRUMAN details from 1901 census they are living at 60 Chester street Lambeth James b 1862 Walworth occupation 1901 general labourer Jane b 1869 Newington Mary b 1890 Lambeth Jane b 1892 Lambeth Daniel b 1894 Lambeth Rose b 1898 Lambeth Jane was born Jane Alice New in 1870 Southwark, she married James William Hedgecock 1887 Newington Surrey. Their 1st daughter Susan Hedgecock was born 1887 Walworth Surrey. I have both Jane & James living with their respective families in 1881 census (although Janes mother has remarried & Jane is found under the newly married name of Cuffley). My troubles start with the 1891 census, I couldn't find a trace of these Hedgecock's anywhere, so decided to try the 1901 census, but again nothing. The only thing I could find was their 1st child Susan was living with her grandmother (Janes mother) but using the name Truman, then I found the rest of the family are using the name Truman. That's why I thought I would ask to see if anyone can find them using that name in 1891, because they are definately not using the name Hedgecock or any other form of it, believe me I really have looked everywhere & anywhere for the past 5 years. That's why I am hoping somebody will have better luck than me, or maybe think of something I've missed. Thanking all in anticipation Janice
