Sorry Elaine unfortuanetly i do not know who he married or if he ever did marry. The man who i thought was his brother could have also been born in Warwick but that only appears as his birthplace on one of the census'. I found a baptism for a william in 1858, correct parents and this man who i thought was his brother also baptised on the same day. So i thought this was the william in the account book but then i realised that he didnt didnt appear on the 1861/1871 census and he couldn't have joined the army at the age of 4 so he must have died and i found a death for a william in 1859 in Liverpool.

Do you know if your William married - and if so to whom. The one Diane as found seems to have married a Charlotte born 1867 Bury St. Edmunds

Th confusing thing is he seems to mention a ancestor of mine and his wife in his account book, so i guessed he was this mans brother but he doesnt appear on any of the census' Any help is greatly appreciated. Steph

Thanks Jeanette. Hi Elaine i have an acount book belonging to him and it tells me when he joined and his age which gave me his birth year. And in the book it had were he was born. Thanks He is a bit of a puzzle i thought he belonged to another part of a winterton line but i have found out that it doesnt add up. Steph Thanks

Steph - how can you be sure you have the right man. As I have said he was later found in Suffolk and Essex - no mention of Liverpool - and seemed to be an ironmonger all his life.

The one Diane has found can be followed through in the 1881 and 1891 census living in Suffolk, and then in 1901 living in Essex. His occupation is an ironmonger. Doesn´t quite seem to fit in with what you are looking for.

Hi I am hoping that someone out there will be able to help me on a bit of a tricky lad. I am looking for a lad called William Winterton born c.1858 in Coventry, Wawrick, England. I am in the dark about who his parents are and if he had any siblings. All i know if that he joined the Royal Artillery in 1877 and remained in it until 1889, where by then his residence was to be Hunter Street Liverpool. I think howvere that he will be living in Coventry in 1871. I would really appreciate anybody that has a go at finding this boy and his family. I am open to any finds at all! Thanks Stephanie.
