I have a family of Bycrofts from Lincolnshire. Samual Bycroft bap 11 7 1785 Boston Lincsmarried in 1808 to Mildred Louth bap20 11 1785 in Addlesthorpe. They had at least 5 children:Mary Ann 1809 Robert 1810, Joseph 1812, Frances 1814 and John 1817 all baptized Wainfleet All Saints. John went to New Zealand and had a son, Louth b 1848 in Epsom NZ Joseph mar Sarah Simpson and had a dau Rebecca in 1849 – his family alsowent to NZ. John’s son, Louth is clearly named after Mildred Louth. So far all fits. HOWEVER in ManchesterChristopher Bycroft bap 8 12 1844 and Louth Bycroft also bap 8 12 1844 parents Samuel and Mildred –which makes Mildred 59 years old!! I need to find this family on the 1841 census!!!! Also in Manchester on 24 7 1846 Mary ADLAM Bycroft is bap – parents Robert and Augusta Mary Ann.. Robert Bycroft mar Augusta Mary Ann Adlam in Liverpool 1837 but is he related to Samuel?? – possibly the Robert b 1810 but again I need him in a census. All help welcomed – census/ideas etc. Peter

Looks Promising - dates fit for Samuel and Mildred. Also Augusta at 1817 fits with Augusta Mary ann Adlam bap 25 6 1817 in Doncaster - I wonder if 1851 can find the same people and more impotrtantly Christopher and Louth?? Thanks again Kath- that really helps Peter

I do think when you see the original 1841 census that Kathleen has found you'll be able to see that Leather is almost LOUTH!!

Thanks Val Looks as though Augusta died Jun Q 1848 in Chorlton, and dau Augusta (1838) died aged 44 Jun Q 1883 in Chorlton. Next thing to sort is the elusibe Jiney, lookes lile Lisey to me on the original, aged 1 in 1841.... Too many Louth's at the moment......nice 3 day project (Monday is a holiday in NZ),

I think it must be Lancashire. Peter you were asking if Robert 1811 was related to Samuel & Mildred, I suppose the 1851 census , where Henry Louth Bycroft is living with Mildred must be the connection.
