There is this Thomas Parker in 1891 I wondered if he might be the widowed husband of Sarah perhaps? Thomas Parker abt 1851 Mahoe, Ireland Lodger Middlesborough However image does say he is single, and I can't find a death for Sarah between 81 and 91. Maybe they returned to Ireland. Are there any records of passages between the UK & Ireland you might be able to check? Anyone know?

This is on the IGI, but not conclusive as your William might not be recorded. Need to see if these parents also have a Sarah. Good idea about the children's certificates - got to go to work now - thank you all. Jennifer.

I expect you you could try, but you'll most likely need to know where he was born in Ireland. It's always worth a try. I suppose you could try for one of the children's certs to see if they have more info on his birthplace? Maybe someone else can give you some other info? Good luck Jennifer.

So, can anybody tell me if I can apply for a birth certificate with just his year of birth-would they search the year for me?

Gillian Jennifer

Gillian Jennifer Report 26 May 2006 09:39

Yes, this is him. I have tried forever to trace Sarah Parker but she and her husband have dissapeared of the face of the earth. Yes I agree, I wish they would put a place instead of just Ireland, at least then I would know where to look, I would even think about visiting the place and see what I could find out.

1881: possibly same person with sister Sarah? William Irwin abt 1851 Ireland Brother in Law Heworth Sarah Parker abt 1856 Ireland Wife Heworth Thomas Parker abt 1852 Ireland Head Heworth *at least if this is him, you now have a sibling to try to match the family with. Can't see him in 1871 so possibly still in Ireland.

Why don't you post all the info you've got on the certs' and I'm sure there will be help available on here to look too. Sometimes two (or more) heads are better than one!

Hi Jess, Yes I have looked for him but I do not know his Mother's name, I have searched since last July and cannot find out. Can I pay for a search of the month he was born to enable me to receive his birth certificate?

Jess Bow Bag

Jess Bow Bag Report 26 May 2006 08:48

His birth will be recorded, hopefuly - depending on when he was born - in Ireland's BDM records. How accessible that info is, is another matter. Good luck have you tried looking for his christening on the IGI? jess

I only have marriage and death certs for my Grandfather, and from these I know the year he was born and that he was born in Ireland then came to live in County Durham. Also that his Father was also William a Farmer from Ireland. How can I get a birth certificate without knowing his exact date of birth? or am I hoping for two much!
