Thank you Elaine ever so much for all your help, I think it will keep me busy for a while. It may take me a little while to do my research as I don't get much time on the computer as I have a nearly 10 month old to run after. Thanks again Vanessa from oz |

Well - not sure there is anything else I can offer. Sorry didn´t get you back to 1841 as hoped! You will definitely need to purchase the certificates I suggested to confirm the information found and to find out the names of the fathers of Charles Andrews and Elizabeth Ellen Smith. Also you need to trawl through the BMD complete images to find the marriage of Louisa to Mr. Johncey - and then order that certificate. Hope it has helped and given you something to work on. |

If you have got some idea of when Charles Andrews died, then you can look through the BMD´s on Ancestry (free to use) for Louisas marriage to Mr. Johncey. The website address is http://www.ancestry(.)co(.)uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx (remove brackets) It is free to use - you need to search through the complete images - somewhat time consuming as you need to search through each quarter individually. Once you have found her marriage reference, you will need to order the certificate as it will give you an approximate age for Mr. Johncey - as well as his father´s name - which you will need to start tracing back in time. |

I think you might have to purchase the marriage ceritificate of Henry Cook and Elizabeth Ellen Smith - so that we can find out the name of her father. I have tried looking for a possible birth certificate for her but have found two on the FreeBMD so don´t which (if either) is the right one Elizabeth Smith 1862 Oct-Nov-Dec Cirencester Gloucestershire, Wiltshire or Elizabeth Smith 1864 Apr-May-Jun Cirencester Gloucestershire, Wiltshire |

This might be Elizabeth Ellen Smith on the 1881 census Mary A. Herbert abt 1841 Fairford, Gloucestershire, England Wife Fairford Gloucestershire Robert Herbert abt 1832 Poulton, Wiltshire, England Head Fairford Gloucestershire Ellen Smith abt 1863 Fairford, Gloucestershire, England Niece Fairford Gloucestershire and possibly her on 1871 census James Caudle abt 1849 Fairford, Gloucestershire, England Son Fairford Gloucestershire Thomas Caudle abt 1806 Fairford, Gloucestershire, England Head Fairford Gloucestershire Mary Ann Herbert abt 1841 Fairford, Gloucestershire, England Wife Fairford Gloucestershire Robert Herbert abt 1832 Fairford, Gloucestershire, England Son-in-law Fairford Gloucestershire Ellen Smith abt 1863 Fairford, Gloucestershire, England Niece Fairford Gloucestershire ... which really doesn´t tell us much |

This looks like the marriage of Louisa Cook´s parents William Henry Cook Year of Registration: 1883 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Cirencester County: Gloucestershire, Wiltshire Volume: 6a Page: 749 William Henry Cook 1883 Oct-Nov-Dec Cirencester Gloucestershire, Wiltshire Elizabeth Ellen Smith 1883 Oct-Nov-Dec Cirencester Gloucestershire, Wiltshire Note that on the 1891 census Louisa´s mother is called Ellen, and on the 1901 census her name is Elizabeth Ellen. This seems to fit in with the above. |

Do you have any idea when Charles Andrews died ? - or a rough idea of when Louisa married ? Johncey |

This is the marriage reference for Louisa and Charles. If you order the marriage certificate it will give the name and occupation of both fathers - which will confirm our findings for Louisa and will help us to find Charles in the census Louisa Cook Year of Registration: 1912 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep Spouse's Surname: Andrews District: Witney County: Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire Volume: 3a Page: 2556 Charles W Andrews 1912 Jul-Aug-Sep Cook Witney Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire Louisa Cook 1912 Jul-Aug-Sep Andrews Witney Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire |

Vanessa, Its probably best that you post any messages on this board rather than sending them to me personally. If you click on the ADD REPLY at the top of the page then your message will appear here in the thread - where you have lots of people only willing to see what they can find. Well, as the other Elaine said in a previous thread lets see if we can get you back to 1841 before bed time!! (Not sure if she meant your bed time or ours!!) Elaine |

pm received from Vanessa Hi Elaine, thank you for replying. On one side of my tree I have only managed to go back to my great grandmother, Louisa Cook. She married a Charles Andrews. Her DOB 3/12/1888 and died 26/12/1989 in Cirencester. She was born Arlington, Cirencester, Glos. When Charles Andrews died she remarried a Johncey. I know nothing about the Johnceys, but I do have some old photos of them. I also have photos of Louisas parents who I know only as Mr and Mrs Cook. Louisa also had 3 sisters, Lottie (maybe a Charlotte), Laura and Lydia and a brother Jim (who I think died at the Dardonelles???) I do not know what their birth dates are or in what order they were born?? Does this help, Thanks again for replying |

I have only just become a member of genes reunited. I have completed my tree as far as I can with the information from living relatives. I don't know where I can or should go from here. Can anyone give me any tips, advice or lend me a hand. It would be very much appreciated. I live in South Australia and besides my parents who immigrated here all other rellies stem back to the U.K Vanessa |
