Do you know if Thomas married - his marriage certificate will give father´s name which might help narrow it down. |

Joann - you have 2 options here he is either the son of Thomas and Ann or he is the son of Catharine (probably unmarried as no father´s name on christening record) You need to decide which is the correct one. Did Thomas marry - if so when - and have you got the marriage certificate. |

Sorry can you clarify - did he marry in 1851 ? or are you saying that by 1851 he was married to Jane Heyes. How did you get mothers maiden name - was it from one of the children´s birth certificates ? |

got janes maiden name from 1871 cencus as her mother was living with them at the time her mother was jane heyes b abt 1803 |

Well have come back to this and still cannot offer anything else. I have trawled the beta marriage indexes looking for a Barton/Heyes marriage in Wigan from 1845 - 1850 - and not found anything. I did find these on the BIVRI - don´t know if you have already got them HEYES, Jane Christening Gender: Female Christening Date: 2 Jun 1822 Recorded in: Upholland, Lancashire, England Father: William HEYES Mother: Alice Source: FHL Film 1469060 Dates: 1816 - 1844 HEYES, William Marriage Wife: Alice ASHCROFT Marriage Date: 31 Oct 1802 Recorded in: Upholland, Lancashire, England Source: FHL Film 1469059 Dates: 1762 – 1815 Apart from that nothing else I can find.
