Beverly As you are researching at a distance and know little about the area concerned you would find it beneficial to log on to GENUKI. Once on look for Scotland, then Perth. There is an absolute mine of information there which will answer most of your geographical questions and the like. Denis

Hi it's me again Beverly, i just had a thought, Anne of Scotland who is on the board just now does BIVRI british isles vital record index lookup from the years you are looking for. She does marriages too, almost everything and it does include Scotland, maybe she can help you. Give her all the info you have as clearly as you can and who can tell she may find some thing. As she is asked to do a lot of searches she may take a while but it could be worth it. Betty p.s. let me know if she finds anything for you.

yes I guess it is the same for everyone. It is just so hard to get the information when I have so much here in Ontario. If only someone in Scotland was linked to mine just think how big the family tree would be then......:) thanks for your help Bev

Hi Beverly, I think William could be the brother or anything it's hard to say, if they had only stayed in Scotland until the next generation it woud have made thing a lot easier for you though. I have the same problems with my husbands family from Durham England, the came from Ireland, all birth ifo, marriage info and death info just says Ireland, nothing else, so I don't know where in Irland they came from. A lot of us are in the same boat. Betty

thank you anyways.... I am so at a loss. I stop trying and then look over all the records I have and also all the little leads I get from others that are trying to help from other sites and still nothing. I do have one lead and it is probably harder but tell me what you think...:) I have a William Young that is buried in with the rest of the family. The stone only reads William Young and the date of death 9 died 25 January 1864. No other information. Also when the land where the family is being bought and sold his name appears along side of all the other children of Andrew. I am thinking that William is a brother to Andrew or a son from a first marriage since Andrew is sooo much older then wife Mary Agnes. He is born 1780 and she 1806 a difference of 26 years. But have found nothing to go on for this either.

Hi again Beverly, I am sorry about this but as I had a few credit on Scotlandspeople I thought I would be able to help you BUT births are only registered from 1855 to 1905 too late for Andrew Young born in 1780. The earlies census where I usually try to find the children is too late for your family too because the Scottish census start in 1851. Looks like I can't help you, so sorry!! Betty

Hi and thank you for any help....:) I did go to Scotland people but I have run out of credits and I really don't have enough information on anything other then thi sone lead so the rest of the credits would go to waste. This is what i have.....not much but this is it.. Andrew Young b: 1780 Scotland married Mary Agnes or Jane/Jean (unknow maiden name) b: 1806 ish children Hugh b: 1827 Agnes b: 1832 John b: 1835 or 36 March or April Margaret b: ? not even sure if there was this child. I have found an Andrew YOung that married a Mary Jackson.... and as far as I can see the death cert. I have on Hugh which is my 4x greatgrandfather his date of birth is 1827 no month or day but only the year. Agnes Young b: 1832 this was found on her marriage cert. but again only mention of Andrew & Mary with no indication of place of birth except Scotland. John b: I thought it read 1831 on the stone at the cemetery I came across but others feel it reads 1835 or 1836 since it has his age only no dates. It reads he was 12 or 17 so hard to read after all these years.

Hi Beverly, Perth is quite a small town on the north east of Scotland, not far from Dundee if that helps. I don't think it will but it is a small town 28/30 miles from Dundee. Betty

Georgina Report 16 Apr 2006 22:06

Bev, Perth is a county in Scotland on the east side. If you google 'perth scotland' there are maps and other info that will help you. If you want to find the children of Andrew & Agnes you will need to subscribe to scotlands people, it's pay per view but well worth the money. You wont be able to view birth certs. before 1855 because that is when registration began in Scotland. Georgina.

Hi as some may know me from posts before I am trying so desperatly to try and find my link from Canada back into Scotland. I have found a marriage between Andrew Young and Agnes Meloy on April 25 1829 in Perth. I think they may have had children Hugh, John, Agnes and Margaret (not sure on this child or not) all born in Scotland. I did find information on the birth of John Young born March 29th 1835 with Andrew Young as father. The location of Marriage to Andrew Young to Agnes Meloy is Perth.... so were abouts is this and when looking for other children I am having a hard time pin pointing the location down. Is Perth a larger city with a lot of small towns within it? The information I have regarding the family here in Canada is that of Andrew Young born: 1780 and Mary Agnes Young born: 1806ish. Any information would be great. Bev
