Hi I have the same problem with my husbands gg/grandparents both born in Irleland but where?? just waiting for the youngest childs birth certificate to arrive to find out the maiden name of Thomas Butlers wife Margaret ?? maried thomas 1832-1834 Ireland I think but where is the question Margaret

Hi Marion, Thanks I will have a look at that website, anything that will help I will try, problem is trying to find a Thomas Collins's in Ireland there are hundreds. I don't know where in Ireland he was born, everything, birth certificates and marriage certificates just say from Ireland. Thanks again. Betty

Hi Betty, I really sympathise. I have absolutely nothing on hubby's gr-gr-grandma. Only her name, and approx year of birth, from her marriage & death certificates. We know she was Irish, and she doesn't show on ANY uk census! She married in Bristol in 1906, and died in 1953, but she must have still been in Ireland in 1901. My only hope is the 1911. What's the betting, if we find her on it, it just says 'Ireland'! Debbie

Hi Gerri, It could be him what age is he on this census 22 could be him. I know he called one of his children Philip. The problem is there is another Thomas Collins living in Durham and both have about the same year of birth, I went away of track onto that one before I found the correct one. Betty

Hi Betty, Just back from holiday and having a quick look to see what' a happening. Join the club I have the same problem I cannot find a way round it either GRRR!!!. Same family as we were on about before born in Durham etc. etc. I know they arrived here between 49 and 51 and thanks to the scottish marriage know mothers maiden name but still drawing blanks. Some-body suggested writing to both Dublin and Belfast records offices and seeing what happens haven't tried it yet though. Best wishes Pmaid
