I'm trying to find Emily Lee Foster b abt 1848, father Alfred Foster, sister Ann Foster b abt 1847. Both girls were born in Aspley Guise. Most of this parish is in Bedfordshire, but part is in Bucks! I have found Emily and Ann at a boarding school in Linfield, Sussex in 1861. Emily is a Governess in Eynesbury, Hunts in 1871. By 1881 she's married Jospeh Liddiard and living in Limpley Stoke, Wilts from then on. I'm trying to trace her mother, so hope that 3 year old Emily is at home on census night 1851! I've failed to find her on Ancestry so far. All help greatfully received! Linda

Oooh err! They're interesting - this is going to give me some thinking! The family obviously had some money sending their daughters to boarding school, what was going on?! Time for a glass of red to aid the thought process, I think! Linda

This is really strange, if Mum married Alfred Foster why doesn't she use his name? And where is he? I can't find him on any census. (he's named as Emily's Dad on her marriage cert). I'm starting to suspect white lies on the Mariiage cert now! Linda

the rest of the children in 1881 possibly (maybe not the boys?)-all calling themselves Foster - what are they on?? Alfred Foster abt 1843 Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire, England Head 9 Gt Coram St, St George Bloomsbury, London, England Annie Lee Foster abt 1849 Aspley, Bedfordshire, England Head Fore Street, Chard, Somerset, England < 32 spinster/ milliners apprentice Thomas Foster abt 1852 Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire, England Head 7 Bernard Mews, St George Bloomsbury, London, England

Maybe Mr Foster doesn't live in that area at all.............he might be very well off and married. Maybe Mary is his mistress and he was the one who paid for the girls to go to school. I'm thinking a lord or a Duke............ I have dreams like that about my family all the time.........plenty of illigitimate children to think up wealthy fathers for. But who knows maybe he was a rich man...........wouldn't be the first time somethink like that happened.
