Richard and Catherine were the parents of Israel born 1824 in Market Weighton. They were NOT the parents of Charles's father. Charles gave his birthplace as Manchester on 1881.........Ardwick ( as per 1861 and 1871) is part of Manchester. Reg

Reg, I think you are right.......I will mail the the person tomorrow as she is a distant relation through the Kelsey line......something wrong somewhere, i can't undertand though her saying Richard Kelsey & Catherine were the parents of Israel. that part was right. But she has the wrong parents I think. It is 2.00am in the morning here in Australia....think I had better go to bed. Wendy

If you are relying on what some other person has told you, I think you need to be very circumspect.......... The Market Weighton family is clearly not the same as one headed by Israel born in Lincs. And as for the Charles who married Cecilia......his birthplace on the census after the marriage is Lancs, not Yorks. Reg

Reg, Thank you for all that information........looks like you say I have the wrong Israel.......Ardwick Lancashire.......everyone else born Market Weighton.......I can't find a Charles born at Market Weighton and it was Cecilia Newton who he Married.....so at this stage I have hit a brickwall. Will have to do more checking out. The person that sent me the information said that Charles was her Maternal grandfather with Israel being Charles father and Richard & Cathrine Kelsey being Israel father.....so like you say something wrong somewhere. Reg & Cheryl, Thank you both for your kind help.......I am very grateful......the reason I was trying to find out about Cecilia Newton was I had this information sent me...and now I am lost as I cant find CHARLES KELSEY Cecilia's husbands parents.....they are surpose to be Israel KELSEY , abit confusing.....Israel Kelsey Married Hannah Kelsey 1849 West Riding Yorkshire.....but I believe he married twice & Charles could have been from that marriage. This is what I received..... My maternal Grandfather was Charles Kelsey who married Cecilia Newton of willoughby Waterleys . He was the son of Israel (!) Kelsey of Ardwick who's parents I think were Richard & Catherine from Market Weighton. Israel has 2 Marriages & produced Charles Lizzie then Tom, Mary Jane & Annie (all three teachers). Hope you can understand all of that.....I just cant now find who Charles belongs to. Wendy R
