Can anyone help me????

My grandfather was William Bunting born 1923. His mother was Rosetta Halse born c1891 in Marazion, Cornwall. I know that his father was also called William and probably from Stockport but I am struggling after that. I though I had the correct info but I am now doubting whether this is the case and whether I have the wrong family in my tree. Is there anyway of finding marriage details for the late 1900s / early 1920s between ROSETTA HALSE and WILLIAM BUNTING. If so I'd be able to confirm William's father's name and then know whether I have gone down the right line. Thanks Ju xxx |

You can still search free at the mo on Ancestry Beta records. You will have to buy the cert tho to confirm any info Shirley |

If you have William Bunting junior's birth cert it will confirm father's name,age and occupation. You can look for the birth cert, if you haven't got it, and the marriage on the GRO index images on Ancestry at the moment. It;s free, but it does mean checking every page of every quarter with the relevant names on it year by year till you find what you want. nell |

Ju This is Rosetta's birth record: Halse Rosetta Katie Penzance 5c 223 Birth Q4 1890 However, I can find no marriage record for her up to 1920. I think you need to go onto Ancestry - Beta index and check quarter by quarter, starting with 1921. Hope that helps. Suzy |

Suzy - when you did the marriage check up to 1920 (familyrelatives I'm assuming), how early did you start the search? For someone born 1891, the marriage could have been any time after 1907. I'm thinking Juliana is working on info given from memory by family and we all know how notoriously wrong memories can be!! Jools |

Checked 1905 (16yrs old) to 1920. A couple called Rose, but didn't marry a Bunting. May have been mistranscribed on FamilyRelatives, which is not un-heard of. Can't search on first name only, sadly. Suzy |

Suzy - agree we're stuck till Juliana puts in an appearance. I wonder if her grandad is dead and she's working his year of birth backwards from the details on his death certificate. (apologies if grandfad is still with us) |

I can't even find William Bunting born 1923. Just checking 1922 now. Fern. Found him: Dec 1922 William S. G. Bunting - Halse - Camberwell - 1d 1298 Looks like the mother was married. Fern.
