Lise, Good! Glad you can see it now. They are your best hope for finding the information you need. Don't panic or get overwhelmed when you see these websites - just take your time and explore them thoroughly and use Google - you will find most things you need to know and then you won't need to ask on here. You can be self sufficient and come back and help others! :-) Cheers, Horatia

Go to this website http://www(.)ocba(.)sa.gov(.)au/bdm/index.html (REMOVE BRACKETS) Look to the side bar it plainly says Births Marriages and Deaths. E-mail them for help if you aren't sure. Just take more time to read things properly. Cheers, Horatia

Thanks Horatia, Does each state hold its own BMD register ?? Lise

Horatia Report 31 Jan 2006 11:34

The death only took place 4 years ago. I do have some Australian BMD certificates myself but mine are old. If the death certificate has the informants name on it - you would have an address so it might be worth e-mailing one of the registrars and asking what information is on a death certificate - say you are trying to find the address of a relative but don't want to send for the cert unless you know if will have an informants address on it. Or ask them to check their records and ask if they have the death of a Joe Bloggs who died on the death date you have. You have plenty of starting points. Cheers, Horatia

Hi Danielle I am not 100% sure on their actual names could have re-married etc I did have a quick look at the white pages but am a bit stuck because I not 100% sure either on the area of Austalia they emigrated to. The only correct bit of information I have is their forenames and DOB's. I cant seem to get anywhere with this at the minute. I really dont want to give up though I havent seen my 3 relatives for over 30 years. Must keep searching Thanks Danielle Lise

Hi Lisa B You could try a residential search of our telephone directory at www*whitepages*com*au you will likely find members of his family listed. Best Wishes Danielle

Adelaide appears to be in South Australia so you want the South Australian Births Marriages and Deaths website. Cheers, Horatia

Horatia Report 30 Jan 2006 20:04

There you go. A list of Registrars of Births Marriages and Deaths for Australia - all done by just using Google. http://www(.)ocba.sa(.)gov(.)au/bdm/links.html REMOVE BRACKETS I would imagine if you send for the death certificate it will show his last address or an old people's home or a hospial where he died. Cheers, Horatia

Do you know how to use Google? You just put Underdale +Australia into Google and see if you can work out whereabouts in Australia it is. www.(.)google(.)co(.)uk Remove the brackets Cheers, Horatia

It depends whereabouts in Australia he died. All the regions have their own Birth Marriage and Death Departments which are easily found by googling. Example: New South Wales +Births Marriages and Deaths Cheers, Horatia
