James Horseman was on the 1881 census separate to Lewis/Louis........He is also a carpenter and joiner.......could even be Lewis' brother.....Maybe he adopted his niece?? Things that seem like they should be easy, never are!! Who were the witnesses at the marriage? Off for a late lunch now....... merry

Hi, sorry, got distracted by burning beef. Erm James was a chair maker born High Wycombe, Bucks. but he was in the 1881 with a family, so possibly a relative but Been trying to find a Florence Honman (just in case) but no luck as yet, ancestry not helping by bringing up all the USA results aswell!

The Barton regis child died aged 1, so that's a red herring. The problem is that both the name Lewis and Horseman are both very open to mistranscription............I have been looking for a death for him instead, because BMD entries are generally (HAHA!) more accurate! Can't find one Lewis/Lewis with Horsman/Horseman on Family Rellies Grrrr!! (1880-1903) Merry

Heather where was James born as I know lots of people like to change their names, or the Wifes marry their brother in law or was he a carpenter and joiner. Zoe

Zoe

Zoe Report 26 Dec 2005 14:06

This one may fit the bill possibly? In Bucks. Births Mar 1884 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Horseman Florence Mary Headington 3a 770 Perhaps she was telling porkies about her age when she married.

Merry Report 26 Dec 2005 14:04

This is the only Florence Horseman born in 1881 (a black hole in FreeBMD!) Horseman Florence Minnie Barton Regis.6a 186 Birth 3 1881 Other years should be on FreeBMD, but I can't see one that looks likely for parents in berkshire????!! Barton Regiis is basically Bristol........ Was an occ given for Lewis in 1903? (oops, just saw your post!) Merry

Hi As I said it is a circa 1881 as in 1903 she put 22 on her marriage certificate, all we have to go on is the marriage certificate as we can find no more on her. And dont have a occupation for her father as it just said deceased Zoe

Heather

Heather Report 26 Dec 2005 13:57

Are you sure Florence was born that year, Im blowed if I can find her anywhere in the 1891 unless she is under the step fathers name by then?

Zoe

Zoe Report 26 Dec 2005 13:55

It's more than likely it's them Monty as there are no other Lewis/Louis Horseman around so the only way to find out I think would be by the 1891 census Thanks Monty Zoe

Hi I'm trying to help someone with research could someone possiblily help look for a Florence Horseman c1881 all I know is the father was called Lewis Horseman and he was deceased by 1903 when Florence got married(Florence age 22 at marriage). She got married in Staines Middlesex. Problem is when I've looked up for a Lewis Horseman I get no hits, but when I put in Lewis Horsman I get 1 hit but cannot look in the cenuses to see if they have a Florence with them. As we know she may not have given the right age on marriage certificate as some people did. Any help appreciated I would be so grateful Thanks Hope you all had a great day yesterday Zoe
