Sorry to have seen your message rather late, but the 'Soldiers who Died in the Great War' CD-ROM list a 'David Wootten' , killed in action on 4/11/1918' The details in addition to this CWGC entry are: David Wooton Private 46267 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment Born Corsham, Wilts Enlisted Tonypnady, Rhondda Resident Willianstown, Rhondda, S.Wales Hope this helps Chris.

As the David birth I found and Sarah's birth are registered Bedwellty and that's where Sarah is in 1901 I had another look for David, but couldn't find him - tried Wootten/Wootton/Wooten/Wootton/Wotten and Wotton. nell

Kim Did not know he was meant to be a father! As the marriage isn't on Freebmd, it probably took place after 1910 but before the birth of the child, which helps narrow it down. Sarah would have been legally able to marry at the age of 12, and David at 14, although marriage this early is very unusual. nell

Mark Ooops! Re-checked and found this possible birth: Wootten, David John Record Type: Births Quarter: December Year: 1898 District: Bedwelty County: Monmouthshire Volume: 11a Page: 103 Though this would mean he was only 20 when he died, rather young to be married, though possible in wartime I guess. nell

Hmmmmmm i see your problem, the war graves commision only states his death etc.. but not an age at death ?

Unknown Report 2 Oct 2005 22:51

There are 28 David Woottons in England on 1901 census, none of whom have middle name J. or a Welsh birthplace. Only David Wootton on Welsh 1901 index was born 1851, so too old to be in WW1. nell

Unknown Report 2 Oct 2005 22:49

No likely David J. Wootton births on Ancestry civil reg (they are all too old) and no marriage on Freebmd for David and Sarah Phelps. nell
