Does anyone have access to any parish records in Westminster? I am trying to locate William Knott b1829 (father written as Thomas) (still!!!) 1861 has him and family at 25 Pembroke Tce St Mary's Islington... William and wife Frances were married in Bermondsey living at Gt George St Bought subs. to the genealogist...but brought up hundreds...Most of which are before my required time...even though I included it in search parameters..... Really having no luck with William...am I. Please someone help Cheers Leeanne |

And his father from his marriage cert is Thomas? don I don't really understand the 'father is written as Thomas (still!!)' part, I've obviously missed an earlier thread. Do you think his father was something else? |

Ah..wonderful! Ok, so we need a William in Westminster who will be about 11 in 1841, 21 in 1851, preferably with a father Thomas, mother still alive and at home with them and lots of siblings to make life easier! The reason I've asked is cos I'm currently trawling 1841 and 1851 Westminster in the hope of trying to find my missing 4xgrandparents and their children so I'll keep an eye out for William while I'm searching. Figured if you can get some idea of a family unit, it might make asking anyone going to Westminster in the future easier if you have an idea of parents nsmes and any possible sibs. Don't suppose his birthplace in 61 ia any more specific than Westminster, is it???? Will keep you posted if anything likely turns up! Lou |

I found this yesterday. I think the 1841/1851 is needed. WILLIAM KNOTT - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 20 MAR 1836 St Botolph Without Aldgate, London, London, England |

Hi Cat... Oh my god....any help would be fantastic...I am at such a loss....Yes, in every census it is Westminster....and every year is the same..I think the details would have been correct.. His wife came from Southwark....they were married in St James church Bermondsey Surrey..His fathers details were..Thomas Knott with the letters Deau....all flowing letters...I would have thought it said deceased.. Thanks so much.. Jim, thank you for looking...but unless he was baptised 7 yrs after his birth it is unlikely....I have continually looked for his details...but having no luck... |

Hi Leanne Not sure we'll find a deceased person on a census although you never know! SO....we shall look for any William Knott's with a father called Thomas and hope there aren't too many to narrow it down for you. Lou |

Hi Lou...Realised I do have that info already.....checked up on it a little....have another thread with that info....a Margaret Knott...47 Samuel Knott 43, John Knott 17, Margaret Knott 21, and William.....Have identified Samuel and Margaret as husband and wife...and daughter Margaret.....no mention of John or William being their children....perhaps they were nephews....any idea how to proceed???? A very big conundrum......Incidentally have also looked for birth of John and Will...Have a William Knott born of Thomas and Ellen 1829....born Hanley Stafford....is that London? Have a John Knott 1824 Dover Kent...to Thomas and Ann....so really confusing... Thanks leeanne |

Hi Leanne Stafford is the middle of the UK, near Birmingham, so certainly nowhere near Westminster. So that's not him then! The only other possible one was in Kensington which isn't that far from Westminster and maybe the family moved around a bit? Lou |
