Yes. The first marriage is in 1851, and the second in 1878. I think whoever told you Isaac was his father was mistaken. Both baptisms (which ever is correct) have the father as Thomas, which matches the marriage cert for 1878.

I think james was married twice and both wifes names was jane carol

I can't find a James anywhere (between 1825 and 1840) with a father Isaac. I did find one Christened in Jul 1829 with father Thomas, as on Marriage cert. The age on the marriage cert could be a badly written 48?

I would say, given the ages on all the censuses, that the marriage is wrong.

I would say that if James' marriage cert says his father is Thomas, then his father is Thomas! When did James and Jane marry? You can work out from James' age then which year he was born and then look for a James born to a Thomas. nell

Carol Please give some details - I take it the father's name on the son's birth and marriage certs isn't the same. Please say which names you have - unless you have a very unusual surname or first names, this may just be a case of ordering the wrong cert in error. nell
