Hi Sarah, Wife number 2 was a widow in the 1891 census her name was Emma Poole and she was living at 11 Cuba Cottages in Edmonton with 2 sons George age 9 and Albert age 2 and she married Thomas Williams in March 1893 at St James church Edmonton and his address says 7 White Horse Lane that is what it looks like could be House thankyou Margaret

Following me asking if he was living in sin in 1891 - I had assumed that was wife number 2 before they got married, but, I see from 1901 that she was born elsewhere and was Emma. Though the original census sheet says Eliza in 1891, I think it is probably a mistake for Sophia - seing as she was born at the same time in the same place as Sophia in the earler census. People did sometimes marry quickly after their spouse died - Thomas probably didn't know where the kitchen was, so if he wanted to eat he would need a new wife lol What was wife 2's name before she married him? I could look and see if she was nearby in 1891?? Perhaps she helped out when Sophia was ill? Sarah

Hi Sarah, thank you very much he must have got married again soon after his wife died because I have a marriage certificate for him in 1893 and says a widower will look for his first wifes death now, see what you mean about the s thank you Margaret

Hi Sarah , yes that does look like him in 1881 as on his marriage certificate of 1893 it says vice man whatever that is perhaps he was not on the 1891 census thank you very much Margaret

thank you all, Thomas was born in Edmonton his daughter Martha was born in Islington in 1887-1888 he remarried in 1893 in Edmonton, in 1901 was he was living in Walthamstow, in the 1891 census he would have 42-43 on his marriage certificate for 1893 his address is 7 White Horse Lane and is occupation was Vice man hope this helps Margaret

Margaret, could you put the details you have from 1901 on here. then working backwards might be easier.......especially with a name like WILLIAMS...( I know I have them in my tree !!! ) Esta :)

Hi Sarah, yes I do have him in the 1901 census by then he had remarried but his daughter Martha was living with them she was age 13, and I know he rmarried in Edmonton and that Martha was born in Islington his occupapation was Coachsmithe Wheelman and it says he was born in Edmonton can't find him in the 1881 census thank you Margaret

have you found Thomas in 1881 or Thomas and/or Martha in 1901? Do you know Thomas' occupation? Sarah
