James Martin b.1855 St George in the East. RG12/305 127 pg 4. Can someone please decipher his occupation for me cos all I can get is Inperken which makes no sense at all! Thanks Lou

It's what the enumerator has written that's confusing me! His birthplace is given as St Geo in the East on the index but it says Islington on the returns!

Innkeeper would make perfect sense Daddy is a Licenced Victualler Now if his address had been the Crucifix & Garlic in Stepney, we'd have known what he did!

Thanks Helen I'll take another look now I have some ideas. I've found him in 1901 staying with his mother in Essex but down as Married. Occupation line has been left blank! Need to try and find a possible in 1881 and/or a marriage to give me some clues Lou

Thanks Rosemary That's not him in 1881. Father is Reuben, mother is Elizabeth. I have Reuben and Elizabeth in Tottenham and James isn't with them! Don't think that's my James in 1891 then cos I have him in 1901 with his mother in Essex. Back to the drawing board then....thanks everyone! Lou
