Frequently when a child died the next one of the same sex was given the same name. Have you checked for a death between those dates??

Bit late, I know, but it seems that most, if not all the parish records from the Blewbury / Upton area have been wrongly "flagged" at Ancestry as belonging to Durston in Somerset. I have recently fallen foul of this and have informed Ancestry that there is a problem.

Hi, yes the IGI information was given by relatives. The family were from Blewbury in Berks and did have many records at Lower Meeting House in Abingdon. I think that Ancestry must have transcribed the details incorrectly. Thanks for your replies at least I feel less inclined to think that I have got it all wrong. Best wishes Marianne.

Thought - are the IGI records actual extractions from the register - or 'added by an LDS member' ? The parishes are 85 miles apart according to PARLOC !

Hi Marianne, were either Rachel or Seth from Durston and wanted their daughters baptised here? Or could it just be a mistranscrition by Ancestry especially as you have the same dates in Berkshire so it is unlikely in those days they would bne able to get to both areas on the same day. best wishes Hilary

I have just subscribed to Ancestry and added an ancestors name and found an entry for a baptism that do not seem to quite add up. The ancestry details show that on 3/4/1780 Maria daughter of Seth and Rachel Dicker was baptised at Durston, Somerset. It also shows that on 3/8/1782 Dinah also daughter of Seth and Rachel was bap at the same Church. The SOG and FRC show the same baptisms at Lower Meeting House, Abingdon Berks and the IGI shows Blewbury Berkshire. The dates and names are the same. The family did come from the Blewbury and Abingdon area so these are the records which I have been using. Any thoughts on how they would end up on Somerset records? Many Thanks Marianne.
