What other details do you have from the 1871? Like parents' places of birth, ages etc? |
|||
|
GI Jane | Report | 17 Nov 2004 21:13 |
|
Charles Peters born in Germany 1834 Kate Peters born in Whitechapel in 1843 Therefore Charles aged 37 in 1871 Kate aged 28 |

Are you sure it's 'Peters' because they're transcribed as Peter on 1871, and well it could be either! |

It should be Peters but have also seen it mistranscribed as Peter - Clare |

Found the family (but no Kate) on 1891, do you have this? |

I found them on the 1891 and 1901 but as you say not Kate - There were 6 siblings altogether and I have managed to link the other 5 but seem to have 'lost' Kate somewhere Not sure how to tackle this one!!!! |

Is Kate your direct ancestor? Perhaps she died? |

Kate would be my GGAunt on my Fathers side. It could be possible that she died before the 1881 census or that she married??? |

Clare A shot in the dark, I played about with variations of name etc and the only remote,but possible is Catherine Peters * below. Although the birthplace is incorrect, as she was in an infirmary and presumably the form was filled in by someone who may not have known the patients well, it might be a mistake, perhaps for where she was living before she got to hospital. Have you looked on the GRO index for a death or marriage? Or are you only going by FreeBMD and the IGI? These aren't complete as yuo may know. If she's not down as Kate Peters etc on 1881 then she probably died. 11 was extremely young to marry, I don't think it was even legal at that age. |

Nell - gosh you have done some hunting - I've worked out that the year for that info was 1882? That would make sense if I can't find her in 1881 census, if she was in hospital for a long time and maybe eventually died. Thanks very much for help . Clare |

Chloe - have checked on BMD and IGI didn't turn up anything Nell thinks she might have found her in an infirmary in 1882 -or maybe she died soon after or maybe she married before 1891 when she was 20!! That's a better age. It's all ifs and buts at the moment isn't it??? Her mothers name was Catherine but known as Kate - so maybe this Kate is registered as a Catherine as well, although she is on 1871 as Kate. Are you confused yet!!! Clare |

Nell found the info on the 1881 census. I found that too, but was unsure about it. It would be well work a look into. Perhaps you could do a death search on 1837 between 1881 and 1891 to rule out her death?! |

Yes Chloe your right - I think I need to rule out a death first Thanks very much for your help. Hope I didn't confuse you too much Clare |

Paula - I know what you mean Kate's brother was called Louis Phillippe Peters but he was known as either Philip or John - as if searching for them isn't bad enough!!!! Clare |
