Brilliant, Anna. I searched for every Amos - never thoght of Ames! That surname on the image could easily be Catlin. There's even a 'dot' there. Still doesn't give parents so it's back to the certificate,I think. Tricia |

All the information I have given is taken from the original image on 1901 ancestry Ha, Elizabeth - I thought you meant on the census. Didn't check the birth record. Reckon you have found him. Where on earth is he in 1901 ?? Teresa. I am not getting a result for Amos Callin on 1901 |

Patricia, I suspect it was mistranscribed and the 't' was read as another 'l' giving a surname Callin instead of Catlin. Needs to be checked against birth cert to see if other details correct. Beth :) |

Blimey, Elizabeth, you're clever - comes up with nothing for me! The only result on 1901 for Catlin with Ware is Edward Catlin Head 45 Bricklayer born Holloway London Susan Catlin Wife 37 born Ware living 6,Whellel Road Islington and the only Amos Catlin showing up in Herts is Amos Catlin Head Single 42 Jobbing gardener born Broxbourne Eliza Catlin Sister age 52 born Broxbourne living Spital Brook Broxbourne. I've looked at every Amos born in Herts and still can't find him. Any more clues? Tricia |
