Hi Lisa, Your datelines look ok, the age which is most likely is that which was completed by her parents (ie 5 in 1851), this could be the birth registration, Clifton district included many parts on Bristol. Name: Tucker, Ellen Matilda Mary Record Type: Births Quarter: June Year: 1846 District: Clifton County: Gloucestershire Volume: 11 Page: 330 I agree with you assumption that she lied about her age to close the gap. Good luck Kevin. |

Maybe if I can find when she died it may give her real age? What do you think? |

That could well be, it's so difficult when she constantly lies about her age. I know that her father was Thomas though and on the marriage certificate it says he's a builder, so maybe! Thankyou. |

Hi Lisa, on the 1891 Census, married to George Littleboy it says she was born in Bristol, but I cannot for the life of me find her anywhere and certainly not with a Thomas Tucker! This Census image of Ellen and George 1891 has lots of children. Do you want it? If you do, you need to e-mail me direct. Sorry couldn't be of more help. Geoff |

Thanx all! Now you see why I'm stuck! The marriage certificate says; December 15 1884, Name Age Condition Proffesion Residence George Littleboy 21 Bachelor Gardener Brewer St Ellen Fowler 34 Widow ----- Brewer St Fathers name Profession Frederick Littleboy Gardener Thomas Tucker Builder Family say that he was her familys gardener and that it was all rather frowned upon. Their first child was born three months after they married, maybe it was thought better they married than she have an illegitimate child? All rather too much Lady Chatterley if you ask me! |

Hi Don't know if I'm mis-reading this but are you saying the marriage cert says George Littleboy is 21 yrs old? If so wouldn't that mean he was born 1863? And then you say he married Helen/Ellen Tucker 1884? Ellen born 1850 I think one of the ages is wrong Or toyboys were around in those days too..lol WHERE WAS HELEH/ELLEN AND OR THOMAS BORN, DISTRICT IF POSSIBLE? Geoff |

I am looking for a Helen/Ellen Tucker. I know she married George Littleboy on 15 Dec 1884 at St Peters, Pimlico and that she was married before to Fowler. The problem is that on the 1901 census she is recorded as Helen and gives a different age to that of the marriage certificate. I know it's them on the census because of the children. The marriage certificate states that Ellen is 34 and George is 21, could they have lied about age because of the gap or is it a different woman altogether, I can understand that if you didnt pronounce your 'h's' it could quite easily be heard as Ellen!? I just don't seem to be able to get anywhere with finding either a Helen or an Ellen Tucker born to a Thomas Tucker or marrying a Fowler. HELP!!! |
