The extra person living with them has led me to finding another brother I didn't know about!! Thanks for the Fletcher thing. Don't know where it could be as a maiden name though. His mother's maiden name was Savage, perhaps before that. Chloe

FLETCHER m English Pronounced: FLECH-ur From a surname meaning "maker of arrows" in Middle English, ultimately from Old French. It may be a maiden name of one of the females in the family,Ive got a few who have their mum or nans maiden name as a middle name Anna

Thanks again!! I wonder who the Sarah is, must be a sister, right age for it.... although she's born in Suffolk and my Perrens stayed in London (as far as I know) that's a new person to trace! Oh the joy! Or she could be a widowed, sister in law! Thanks again. Chloe

Anna - that looks very much like the marriage. Thank you again. I wonder where 'Fletcher' comes in. Is it commonly used as a Christian name back then, or could it be someone's surname?

Zoe, Hatcham was an older name for the area that became New Cross according to the site I mentioned above. Just found it by luck trying Google, Marian

Just to set your mind at rest I've also checked freebmd for Edward Perrin and he's not there either

Chloe, I think this may be him in 1881. This was the only one born in Surrey. Edward F. PERRIN Head M Male 29 Hatcham Brush Maker Elizabeth S. Hi, Thanks for that, now I won't be spending the whole weekend thinking that he's on there, and he's not!! I think I've found him on the 1881, but it's been mistranscribed to PERRIN, it says he was born in Hatcham, which I think is the same as New Cross?!? Could someone then please look for him in 1891 to see if his surname stayed that way or not. Born 1852, Edward F Perrin/Perren. Thanks!!

no births for Edward perren in 1852 on freebmd around New Cross. nearest is an 1854 in Marylebone - which is actually a fair distance

Leigh sent me a copy of my great great great grandparents on the 1871 census. I'm trying to find a son I've only just found out about. His name is Edward PERREN, born around 1852 in Surrey, New Cross. I can't check FreeBMD about a marriage or death because there are restrictions on this computer (a friend's computer) I looked at the 1881 and I can't seem to find him. Am I going blind? Please help!
