I was looking for Sarah Swatman aged 14 on the 1891 census, but apparently she's not listed at all. Maybe she died between 1881 and 1891 but I haven't found a record. If anyone could find either of the following families on the 1891 census for me it might be a great help! 1. George and Sarah Wright aged 60-ish living in Brewood, Staffordshire. George born in Brewood, Sarah in Church Eaton. 2. James and Ann (Annie) Bethel/Bethell aged 34 and 29 living in Brewood or Bushbury. Children Edward, Eliza and Sarah. Thank you so much to those who have tried to help me x |

That's definitely George and Sarah, they're on the same road in 1901. Thanks! No one living with them anymore then... |

Thanks, that's the Bethell family too. Does 5.12 mean that Alice was 5 months? The 1881 census says that Sarah Swatman was born in Wolverhampton. |

What were Sarahs parents called? I found one age 16,born correct place, but when I looked at the image, the "Sarah" in question was a boy! |

Yeah if it's the same image I've seen the "Sarah" is in fact Isiah, an office boy and clearly listed as 'son'! I have a possible birth certificate with Mary Jane Swatman as her mother and no father listed, but it's all a mystery if she was born in Wolverhampton Workhouse in 1876 but at the age of four was living with 'grandparents' (not sure if that's true) and one of my relatives who became Ann Bethell. |

yeah,it was the same image.the office boy! the only other Sarah Swatman is aged 16 but born Heath, living with mum Mary A and dad James. Maybe her mum got married between the 1881 and 1891 censu and Sarah had taken the new husbands name? I have had that happen with my lot. anna |

In the 1881 George and Sarah Wright had their granddaughter, Sarah Swatman, living with them, but also their daughter, Ann Brockhurst. I can't find Ann Brockhurst in the 1891, but I did find a David Brockhurst, Widower, living in Staffordshire with several children, including a daughter, Sarah Ann, 15. I just wondered if she could be your Sarah Swatman. Jan. |

Hi Jan, that is my Sarah Swatman. Ann Brockhurst is my great great grandmother (or something) but Sarah Swatman isn't her daughter and George Wright isn't her father. That's why I'm intrigued. She's the Ann Bethell mentioned earlier. |

So Sarah Brockhurst is really Sarah Swatman, and Ann Brockhurst is really Ann Bethell? Eeeeeeeeeekk. Jan. |

No haha! It's complicated but not that complicated!! - Ann Brockhurst marries and becomes Ann Bethell. - I don't know who Sarah Swatman or George Wright are. - Sarah Wright could be Ann's mother since her name was Sarah and she was widowed at some point, but who knows! |
