Hi Helen, I would be grateful if you could try and do a lookup for me,My gg grandmother was called Martha Johnson, she was born in sheffield between 1855 and 1858.Her parents were called George and Margaret Johnson,I have no details on George, but Margaret was born in Sheffield about 1822.If you could look on the 1861 and 71 census for them I would be most greatful.I realise that all 3 names are very common, but hopefully with rough ages, something might come up Thanks in advance Anna

Hi Helen Chris from one of the other links has suggested I ask you to look up my family on the 1871 Sheffield census, then he can look up the details using the page no. and folio number as he has not got the name index. If you are willing I am looking for William Hanton, he should be 19, also his father Thomas who is described as a farmer. William married an Emily Hodson aged 16/17 the next year 1872, her father is John Hodson. They married from Church street but they were not there 1871 census. It would be really amazingingly kind of you if you helped me. Many thanks Ann

For Deborah Plumridge Found this family on 1841 name index but unable to read actual Census page. John Bell 35, Ann 25, Emily 6, Thomas 4, Fanny 2 Ref 1335 19 13F. For Jackie Wing Found this family at 139 Milton Street 1871(road exists today but new buldings) William Kitson 37, scissor grinder, Sarah A 35 born London, Deborah 13, drapers assistant, Mary A 12, Edith A 10, Willis 5, Amelia 3, Helena 1. There were only about 5 Kitson families and this was the only Willis. As he's just the right age I think it must be the correct family. For Ann Wightmore 1871 -Sorry but unable to find either of yours. There were no Hantons at all in Sheffield. I checked Hanson and Hanstone but no William of around 19. Quite a few Hodsons but no Emily approx 17. For Marian Price 1851- William Jarvis 58, Lakenham Norfolk, Susanah 40, Sheffield, William 17 Sheffield, Frances 10, Sheffield, Joseph 6 Sheffield. Ref was 2338 264B but didn't get time to look at full Census page, just name index. For Anna S Tried 1871 but there was no Martha with George and Margaret as parents. There were 2 16 year old Martha Johnsons but neither parent matched. For Elizabeth Lake Checked 1851 for you. There was nobody called Busk in Sheffield. The only possibility I came up with was this - Jonathan Moore 41 born Sheffield, surgeon (I think it said!) wife Emma Moore 22, born Southwell Notts, Ann Mary Moore 3 born Ecclesall Sheffield, John Fisher Moore 1 born Ecclesall Sheffield. Ref 2336 339F. I will email those who emailed me. Hope I've not missed anyone.

Thank- you so much Helen. Yes -it does appear to be the right one. Willis seems to be such an odd christian name for 1800s. His marriage certificate should be arriving any day (says I in hope!) which will confirm his family. Will now have to change my file -help- which I've exported to GenCircles! (took me about 6 attempts to get it right only yesterday!) Once again, can't thank you enough. Jackie

Thanxs Helen, if its correct family then theres been some fibbing about the age of wife somewhere along the line seems to be alot of that, that even time cant and doesnt change to present day lol! Is there a way of finding the marriage of John and Ann? going by the age of eldest child means they married about 1835ish. thanxs again Debbie
