Where have you looked for the birth? Do you have the marriage cert? Or are you guessing how old he was when he married? Reg

Hi Zoe Get hold of the marriage cert first. It will give you a better idea of his age - plus his father's details. That way you may be able to match potential birth regs (with mmn) with potential marriages for his parents which will narrow the field a bit for you. Jill

When you say 'Ancestry' I assume you mean only the transcribed records, which are actually the same as freebmd. The full records are now only available to people who pay a subscription to the site. Reg

People don't always die where they lived. She could have been in hospital, on holiday or visiting friends. The death is registered in the place where it occurred. Kath. x

Do you know the circumstances of your grandmother's early death? Perhaps Birmingham had a specialist hospital or maybe your Nan was just visiting family or friends for Christmas. Gwyn

I have thought she might have had family there or like you said was taken there. I have been following my grandfathers parents now looking at Eatons marrying a wood and the only one i have found is in Ecclesall Bierlow, Sheffield - in 1914 so I am thinking this is his parents. Because I know he had an Eldest sister born 1914, Gertrude and another born 1916 Lydia. Any Thoughts Thanks again for all your help. Zoe :)

It sounds most likely to be their marriage, but I would get your grandfather's birth certificate first, then you can confirm his parent's full names. Kath. x

Hi Kath, I will do, but since then I have found Ann E Wood's mother as Lydia also I think I am onto something here. Thanks again Zoe :)
