Does anyone know if there is a website that has details of Captains of merchant vessels in the 19th Century?

I'm trying to find info on a Richard Searle. The only information I have comes from his daughters marriage certificates dated 1875 & 1885. On both he is a Captain in merchant service. His daughter was born c1850.
