Find Ancestors

I wonder if someone would be kind enough to see if they can find her for me. I am trying to find Rosanna Baxendale (b1873 Glamorgan) on either the 1881 or 1891 census. She married James Voisey in 1894.

I don't have any parent details and thought the census would be a good way of getting these. Failing this i can order her birth certificate as i have the details:

Reggie - yes i've searched on FIndMyPast, Ancestry & familysearch.org (wasnt sure if they used different versions of indexes) but have failed to find her on any of these. Not very good with the advanced searches (yet - getting there) so was hoping someone might have an idea.

Wow - some nice detective work!! I guess i'll have to get the certificate now to be sure of parents.

Walnut Tree is at the southern end of a village called Taffs Well so I'm sure Reg has found 1881.

I've been trying to work out where Walnut Tree is (i live in Cardiff so really should know lol) so that makes sense. Probably just on the Pontypridd boundary.


Also just checked freebmd and found Walter William Baxendale b1875 Pontypridd so that links in as well.

I googled Walnut Tree but you get a lot of restaurants. Google Walnut Tree+Glamorgan.

When you 'view the record' on Ancestry there is a comments & corrections link on the right-hand side. Just open that & follow directions.

Neil, you do have to become very tricky with searching. On Ancestry you can search just date & put the place of birth in the keywords box, or first name & place of birth, etc, etc, etc. Try as many combinations as possible. Follow parents & siblings especially those born closest to the census date. They tend to be the most correct.
