Please can someone explain how the marriage records work ie if I find two names with the same area, volume and page numbers, is that confirmation they were married, and is there anywhere I can find them written together? |

Sometimes there are two marriages to a page (4 names) and sometimes 4 marriages (8 names), so you can't be certain who married who. |

I would buy the birth certificate of whichever of their children is your ancestor. |

You can't view birth certificates without buying them, unfortunately. |

Freebmd is a great help but it is a good idea to check the references on Ancestry too. |

BUT freebmd is more complete than ancestry for the 1837 onwards ...... because ancestry takes its information from freebmd, so is always a few weeks (maybe months) behind. |

Hello Gwynth, can you please do a look up for me. I have George Roberts (I'm guessing he was born about 1860) married to Bridget Walsh or Welsh probably in the UK as I cant find their marriage in NSW BDM. They had a daughter Ruby Agnes Roberts c1886 in Sydney Australia. I would like to know where George and Bridget were born and if they had any other children. |
