Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me I am trying to find out who my great grandparents, parents were. My great grandparents names were Charles Albert Conquest and Roseannah Hadley. They were married Dec 1871 in Paddington. I will be very greatful for any help anyone can give me. Thank You.

Have you got them on any Census, as I cannot find them under Conquest??

The best way to find the fathers' names is to buy the marriage certificate from www.gro.gov.uk

Mary, how are they showing on the 1901, as I cannot find a Charles and Rose* Conquest.

Where did you get the information from??


I cannot find a Charles Conquest marrying a Rose*, nor a Rose* Hadley marrying at all in the period September 18070 to December 1871.



Of course, they may not have married at all, just lived together common-law.

I think it better you send for their MC and find their parents names No point following the wrong line, as there are a few Charles Conquest in london

They are showing as living at 272 Shirland road Paddington.Living with their 3 children Charles age 3 Ernest age 1 and Rosina age 4 which was my grandmother. There was also a Percy living with them showing as a brother in law age 15.

I know you said they wer married in 1871 but I have found a marriage in Dec quarter 1895 in Paddington (volume 1a page 105)
I think this is them on the 1901 census. Name transcribed as "Conguest" and Roseannah as "Susannah"

May I just say that if you had given us that information from the 1901 census in the first place, it would have been a lot faster finding the information for you!!!


That census tells us not only the children (and it is often easier to find children), but it also gives us the birth dates and birth places of the Charles and Roseannah.

We would also have been widening our search quite a bit.

Thank you I am sorry I did get the marriage year wrong it was 1895 and he was born in 1871

On the image of the 1901 census, it looks more like Rosannah than Susannah ....... a transcriber's error.
