Sorry I just hadn't really had any other success with my threads, so did them on different boards a few days apart as I thought people would probably only look in particular boards, i.e. the Parr board might not be looked at that often. |

The amateur naturalist was very common in the UK in the 1800s, and even into the early 1900s. Think fo the number of vicars who spent much of their time naturalising, collecting plants, or animals or observing the stars, etc |

I just looked at the entry for the death you mentioned - the entry directly beneath it is for a Margaret Parr born in the same year - maybe she died in childbirth? The refs are: |

Will do! Yes the naturalist thing is quite interesting but seems very hard to pin down! I've emailed the Natural History Museum to see if they can point me in the right direction. |
