Kenrick Purfield - my ggg grandfather - had a long and interesting career at sea spanning action/service in the Zulu Wars, Second Opium War, Australian station (Catalpa Incident) and West Indies. Also present when the Captain was lost off the Bay of Biscay. Had a tragic death on TS Mercury when an anchor chain came crashing down on his head - with the inquest held in 1888. Happy to share his story with anyone interested.

Hello Rohan,

Rather than adding your interesting story to an old thread, it may be better for you to see if you have connections on this site to whom it would be pertinent.

Simply put the names you have into the Search Trees box above (in the dark green bar) to see if any one else has him in their tree. If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owner. Regards. Cx
