Hello ,I am trying to follow the trail of a Bain family. A John Bain and his wife Elizabeth came and set up an Optician,s shop in Nottingham In the year 1900 .The Nottingham shop was on Milton Street near the Victoria station.There were other shops , I think at Newcastle-under-Lyme and South Sheilds. The family came from West Derby(county of Lancaster)and Didsbury,Chorlton-cum-hardy- Withington.Before that the trail goes cold but the family did name one of their houses Glen-Coe so that might be a clue .I have a photo of a Great grand father ? in full Highland dress.The Bain family is from my mothers side of the family.More info ,the Bain,s also had shops in Mansfield Loughborough, and Bristol.John Bain ,had two sisters ,Dorothy and phillis.
