Hi, my name is Krystle Ramsay and i am desperately trying to find out information on my grandmother ivy white. I know she was born in a house in Leyton, West Ham London in 1910. Her mothers name was Jessie White and she was a barmaid. Her father is unknown as his name is not registered on the birth certifcate. Im hoping someone out there could help me find out who her relatives were and help fill in the unanswered gaps of my grandmothers life. Her mother sent her to Australia by herself at the age of 13 though they rarely kept in contact. Many years later my grandmother was sent a newspaper clipping of a man by the name John Thomas White AKA "Joe, The Peanut King" who had died in a tram accident on february 11th, 1937 in East Ham London at the age of 62. he was married to a rebecca white but they were than seperated. i think this man may have been ivy white's grandfather. there were no details with the newspaper clipping of who had sent it to her. |

Looking at the dates and ages, I wonder if John was Jessie's father. If he was 62 in 1937 he would have been born approx 1875. If he fathered Jessie at sixteen, that would have been in 1891 making Jessie sixteen when she had Ivy in 1910. Possible, but only just. I wonder if he was Jessie's brother? |
