Could someone please help.

I have the birth certificate of Edgar Pashley born 3/6/1892 in Bolsover to parents George and Sarah Ann nee White.

The only marriage I have found for George Pashley is Dec q 1879 in Chesterfield to Sarah Ann Hilton. On Freebmd one female is ,missing but I have found the record in parish records on FMP.

In the 1891 census George (head) born Notts, and Sarah born Sleaford Lincolnshire are shown with Franke Watts (brother in law) and Emma Watts (sister in law) and their children(sons in law). There is a marriage on Mar q 1882 for a Francis Watts to an Emma White.

I cannot find a marriage for a Sarah White to a Hilton so I'm a little confused.

Perhaps either Emma or Sarah had been previously married?

The certs should show any previous names.

Hi Ann,

Thank you for taking a look. Is there an easy way of copying the info from the census as I have found then in 1881 at Hardwick Hall, George is shown as a Farm Labourer. It looks like Sarahs sister Emma is shown as daughter even though she is only 5 years younger than Sarah.

Hi Ann,

Thank you for your kind thoughts about my mum. She had back surgery on Saturday, discharged Monday but was in pain yesterday so has been re-admitted, have been advised it's nothing serious.

Ignore my entry at 2135 last night, I hadn't read the census properly.

Georges birthplace was given as Hardwick Hall.

George and Sarah are shown with John and Elizabeth White, I believe they are Sarahs parents. They are both born Lincolnshire as is Sarah. George is listed as a boarder.

Also there are Emma and Frank White, son and daughter of John and Elizabeth. Frank Watts is also shown as a boarder,he goes on to marry Emma.

This confirms to me that I have read Edgars birth certificate correctly, that Sarahs maiden name is White.

I think I need to send for their marriage certificate as I can't find a marriage for Sarah with surname White.

Chris
