I am looking for ANY lead to help find the origins or family of my grandfather GEORGE WHITE. He was born in Oxford ( possibly Woodstock ) and maried Annette Miller ( Millar?) from Millwall, London. They spent their married life in Greeenwich until the late 1940's when they moved to Abbey Grove, Abbey Wood, until their deaths. George would have been born in 1876/7 as he is on the 1901 census as 25 and living at Armitage Cottages, Armitage Road, Greenwich, South London. His occupation was Blacksmiths Hammerman ( although later he became a Wheelwright) He later moved to Roan Street Greenwich where my father (another ) George White was born. His other children were Ada, Nancy, Charlie, and Edward( Ted). I cannot find him on the 1891 census ( when he would have been about 15) in the Oxford area. My mother tells me she thinks he came from a 'good family' as he was very well spoken and always very smart. Odd addition to this history, but somewhere along the line, someone thinks they remember George's family had something to do with tennis balls! I would be grateful if anyone could shed any light on this branch of the WHITE's. Thanks, Jenny
