I am trying to find Emma WHITFIELD born about 1863, in Bold (near Prescott) in Lancashire. She was 20 when she married Isaac POSTLETHWAITE on 16 July 1883 in Puddington, Cheshire. Her father was a farmer called Charles WHITFIELD, who has plenty of other children at home on 1881 census, but not Emma, neither was Emma's birth registered. She had several children, including my grandfather, William POSTLETHWAITE on 10 Apr 1891, and Harry POSTLETHWAITE born & died 1895. By 1901, Emma's husband & 3 surviving sons are in the Wirral Union Workshouse, but I can't find Emma. Is she one of yours? Did she die? Did she leave her husband (as family lore has it?) |
