Hoping to find family of Herbert Whittaker born about 1890 ....

I have the death certificate of my Herbert Whittaker who died in Levenshulme on Dec 6 1939, he was buried at Southern Cemetery Manchester in a communal grave with 15 other people ..

Herbert is the father of Nita Whittaker born June1939, just 6 months before Herbert died ..
The informant to the Registrar and present at his death was Minnie Richardson the mother of Nita Whittaker..

There are various possibilities for the birth place and parents of Herbert , but I need a living descendant of the Whittaker family who perhaps knew he was living in Levenshulme Manchester with Minnie Richardson and their daughter Nita in 1939..

Herbert was 49 on his death certificate and a Bricksetters labourer.

Look forward to hearing any ideas on how to find his birth and parents ...

I have access to 1841 -1901 census and also subscribe to the 1911 .

Thanks Margaret

You should be able to find his birth on Ancestry & also pick him up on the census

His occupation may help you with tracing him in 1911.

I take he didn't marry the mother of his child?

Hi Julie / Flick

I have traced a few Herbert Whittakers as mentioned in my original mail ...but todate I havent found a family who have information on mine or who have lost a Herbert after his birth ...

Sooooo.. its difficult when he wasnt married to Nita Whittakers mother ...
There are 2 Herberts born in Macclesfield but I have no proof to assume one of them could be mine ...
Hence the cry for help ...

I need a descendant of the Whittaker family who perhaps knew my Herbert was living in Levenshulme with a Minnie Richardson and baby Nita at the time of his death in 1939.

Again there are 2 Herberts aged 21 who could fit the bill on the 1911 ...one of them was in a Lunatic asylum and the other with his widowed mother was a Silk designer

Regards Margaret
