I am looking for the parents of my grandfather Joseph Willis dob 14/9/1881 from Wiltshire. I got his dob from his death records (which I got after finding a photo of his gravestone on the internet from the church in Blackland near Calne) but cannot find anything else. He was married to Minnie and they lived in Blackland. He had one daughter and three sons. He worked for Lord Lansdown at one time I think in his racing yard. The only person I can find on the census for 1901 which may be him unfortunately seems to have been lodging with another family at the time. I knew him well when I was a child and during his retirement after Minnie's death he lived with us for six months of every year - if only I had asked him questions about his family at the time!!! I think either his or Minnie's father or grandfather had about 12 children and ran a pub. |
