Anne Report 8 Jan 2018 20:24

Good evening all

Starting to feel a little bit better thank goodness.

I had a quick look at the posts and feel so sorry that Gill's Mum has started to pick on Sandra that is so cruel and to do that is unforgivable, please give her a big hug from me.

My own mother didn't have a maternal bone in her body and although we were always well fed and dressed that was about it. She was a master of the bitchy unpleasant remarks but never when Dad was home, plus the sweetest comments when in company, she could have got an Oscar.

We also recorded Vera there are several programmes lined up to watch now

Hope everyone is on the road to recovery

Pleased to hear your feeling a bit better now Anne. Hope you feel back to normal very soon now.

Ann that was my thought too. I even thought about making some toggles out of some wood I cut a few years ago which is up the potting sheds but I can't be bothered to walk up there. New cut wood seems to split.

I don't like the light from the new light over the table. It dos'nt light the sides of the room and it looks very cold with the green walls. I have ordered some warm white bulds for it and oh said we could have a few more spotlights around the room.

Morning all,

Slept like a log last night and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. I was very tired last night and went to bed before Silent Witness finished on catch up. I just could'nt keep my eyes open.

Rotten day here again with a cloudy sky thats very grey but they say it should be warmer today.

Anne I hope you,re feeling better still this morning and that Ruby is being a good girl and looking after you.

Morning all

<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMES <3 <3 <3 Have a great day.

It's freezing here today, poor Rosie came for some nuts, we haven't seen her for a few days with all the frost around, so the nuts didn't last long. She ate them very quickly so must of been starving.

Thanks everyone for your kind words, Sandra is a lot better now but still doesn't want to talk to my mum. I doubt my mum will come round for ages as she tends to sulk if things don't go her way.

Pleased to hear you're starting to feel better now Anne. Sorry to hear your mum wasn't very nice either. How is Ruby now, still full of beans? Hope she hasn't been to much for you while you've been poorly.

Everyone was lucky not to be near that lorry Ann, it doesn't bear thinking about what could of happened had one of the concrete beams fell on a car. How are you getting on with reconstructing the stuff off your stick? I bet you find it once you've finished as that's normally the case isn't it?

It sounds like you're starting to feel a bit better Frank, hopefully it won't be to long before all the withdrawal symptoms have gone. Pleased to see you are starting to get your appetite back.

Sorry to hear you've not been well Jane, at least it didn't last to long and you are feeling better now. The meal you are making for James sound tasty.

It sounds like you are doing well with the clothes for the doll Mandy. I'd love to see a picture when you've finished.

Going to get a cuppa now, I'm still quite cold so I'm hoping it will warm me up a bit.

Gillx Report 9 Jan 2018 11:13

The wind has picked up so we've had to go out as two of our pots plants needed attention. One fell forward onto a couple of other plants, so we've put that back up and put some of the slate tiles we got the other week around the pot in the hope it won't be blown over again and the other plant we had to move over to the pole the washing line is attached to and tie it to the pole as it was rocking around in it's pot, so hopefully the plant will stop rocking now. The wind is so cold it bites right into you. I'm just having another cup of tea to warm up again.

We've decided when we take the Hebe out of the front garden it's going in the gap where we've just had to move one of our tall plants. But that's a job for when the weather is a LOT warmer.

I meant to say the Banana plant I re-potted and brought indoors is almost 2 foot tall now. I showed Sandra a mature Banana plant that was on Gardeners World, it was about 10 foot tall and the leaves were massive, she said she's hopes ours doesn't grow that big or she won't be able to sit in there to watch her TV. She is funny sometimes, bless her. I have reassured her that because it's in a small pot it won't grow as big as the one of the TV. I'm pleased I brought it in when I did as I think it might of died by now with all this cold weather.

Morning All,

:-) Happy Birthday to James :-). If he's in work today will he have to buy cakes for everyone Jane? We used to do that and it could be 30 to buy some years. It always seemed to be a 'cake' day for someone! Is he doing anything special?

I'm glad you are feeling brighter now Anne, but the aftermath of these things is usually tiredness so I expect it will take a while to feel your old self again. Your mum sounded a lot like mine! Mine wasn't maternal either and often said having us children had ruined her life! Similarly she was sweetness and light to everyone else but was full of put downs and criticism in private. I hope Ruby is her happy self again now. :-)

Gill I held off doing a new stick because I was sure I would find it if I started! lol. I expect I will do one day but there's things I need to find now that will be much easier if I have it all on a stick so I'll get some more done later today!

Yes you are right Mel, the moisture drying out in new wood makes it move and split as you say. First OH would stack the tree planks of Ash with spacers for a year to dry out before we used it. Does all this wet cold weather affect how many eggs you get? I still remember your tasty eggs! I managed to watch all of Silent Witness, but I think I preferred the old introduction and music to the new ones.

I watched the Surgeons prog last night, what fantastic people they are to keep their cool and nerve to do such cutting edge (sorry!) work. We are so lucky to have them. They did a fabulous job with the woman with a tumour in her top jaw making her confident to go out and mix with people again.

Better get showered now as OH will be back from the dentist with a frozen mouth soon.

Good morning to all you early birds. Not many who haven't posted.

Happy Birthday JAMES. Is he 32 or 34 today Jane. Cake day was always quite an expense when I worked in the garage, with all the mechanics and office staff. But it was only once a year.

We sat and watched the new six parter, and I had recorded the Surgeons. Roa loves programmes involving operations of any kind. So she was in her element . I watched most of it but went to bed half way through.

I managed to eat half of my steak last night, so I was pleased with myself.. Tonight I am doing PORK CHOPS in the oven with a bit of stuffing on top and a roast of various vegetables with the Spice mix.

So nice to see you all have been busy with things. Mel, have you been over eating, not having a belt that fits. LOL. Good that your Tummy is a lot better Jane, what bought that on ?? James Bug, or over indulgent on the food front.

Gill, How is Sandra this morning. I do hope she does't dwell on your Mums comments. Poor girl won't know if she is coming or going. My mother has been dead for 37 years, but the memories of her will be with me for the rest of my days. I know she had 10 children, but never in all my life did she ever say "I LOVE YOU" or give me a motherly cuddle. I think this is why I craved attention as I got older, and tried to show love and kindness to all those around me.

It's the most horrible DANK DAY outside. Everywhere is wet and it looks like the FOG is creeping in. I don't envy Ros who has gone out with Carolyn and will no doubt have a visit to the garden centre for a nose around. She did wrap up this morning, so she should say warm !!! She is also posting my computer.

I am going to prepare the Veg now, then I can settle down for the day, doing what I want. I did sleep well last night, so things are going in the right direction, I am on a reduced drink today for the coming week. I must admit I am feeling quite happy with my progress.

See you all later.

O I forgot to wish James a Happy Birthday <3 <3 <3 Have a great day and enjoy the cakes if you have to buy them........

Good to know you had another good night Frank. It makes you feel so much better the next day. Keep up the good work.

I shall be off to Bideford soon. I have to go to the bank for oh so I may go up the High St too.

Gillx Report 9 Jan 2018 12:37

I'm pleased to see you are progressing well with not drinking as much Frank, we are all proud of you. Keep going, you're doing well <3 <3 <3

Sandra is as well as can be expected Frank, I just hope mum doesn't start upsetting her again if Sandra ever forgives her. I think it's harder because like I've said she can be really nice if she puts her mind to it, but she has this problem of blaming other people for her own bad behaviour and has turned my family against me over the years to the point where no one rings or visits me anymore and Sandra is worried the same thing is going to happen to her. I'd like to think it wouldn't happen to her but my mum can be very persuasive when she puts her mind to it.

I see you had a good nights sleep last night, let's hope you have another one tonight, it can only make you feel better.

Good afternoon all

Happy Birthday to James, does he have anything special planned Jane?

Just walked down to pick up my prescription and the pharmacist wanted to discuss my pills with me which is a yearly thing, anyway I took the opportunity to ask about my symptoms and it is a virus that is doing the rounds but not the flu .thank goodness

I went out to the small pond yesterday and found the two oldest and biggest of the goldfish dead on the ground we have had them at least 17 years old, I think the culprit was the Heron that has been around recently.

Hope Sandra is feeling more herself after having her feelings hurt bless her.

Good to hear you are on the mend Frank and sleeping well plus getting your appetite back gradually.

Evening All
I am very late here today. I have the dinner all ready now for when James gets in. I know I havent put enough chilli in the sauce so James will have to add some dried chilli flakes to his.
Yes he has taken cakes in to work. I got them the other day for him as I found a Cadburys 12 cupcake tray.I think there are 10 people in the office. I said i would pay for them rather than buying a birthday cake (which we probably wouldnt eat.)
Chris used to cake cakes on his birthday but it got ridiculous with so many staff .Maybe 30 or more,Then when everyone else had a birthday they brought cakes in too.So it was decided it was all too much and too fattening so it ended. In the beginning before the surgery got so big I would go to a local bakery and get a load of cream cakes for Chris to take in. But as the numbers grew it was cake slices, fruit cake ,lemon drizzles etc.
James will be in any minute now .He will have his presents and cards and then we can eat.

Frank he is 32 . and Hannah will be 35 in march !!! I find it really hard to believe .It just seems like yesterday he came out with a squashed ear that looked like a cauliflower LOL The surgeon said he must have been lying on it and it would unfold . Thankfully it did as it looked like a Boxer or Rugby players ear :-S

Anne I am glad you are on the mend now and were able to walk down to the surgery.
Herons are such a nuisance with Pond fish. Sorry you have lost some of your lovely old ones. We got rid of our big fishpond because of the Heron. Our pond and fish was inherited from the previous owners. They were Koi.(the fish not the owners :-D)

I feel so sorry Gill that Sandra has been made so upset by the things your Mum said.It is so bad and so unfair. I am sure she will be ok.She knows you and OH love her and that is the main thing <3

James home Thankyou all for his Birthday Wishes.

Evening all,

Happy Birthday to James ,hope he enjoys his birthday meal .

What a dull day it's been we've had the lights on most of the day ,we've had quite a lazy day really ,Colin's brother came this morning for coffee so we sat chatting for ages by the time he had gone it was lunch time and then this afternoon the hairdresser came to cut my hair .

Mel the fairy pouches sound nice ,some little acorn beads would look nice on them ,send a picture when you've done the i'd like to see them .

Ann we watched the Surgeons prog last night ,what a job they did to that ladies face ,when you saw her at the end though she looked so good .
I think those eyes that lady was painting were wonderful so real looking and held in by magnets !!
I hope we get to see her with the new eye fitted .

Keep going Frank your doing so well ,your appetite is getting better by the sound of it and with the good nights sleep your getting back on track , i should think Ros is pleased ,
How is Ros doing with her diet ? has she lost any more weight ?

Coo what a day. It was miserable all day and then just as I was on the way home it started to rain. The chicken run was just starting to dry out a bit but if it carries on it will be flooded again. They don't lay well with wet feet.

I went up the HighSt and into my favorite shop and found some nice buttons and some different types of cord for the pouches drawstrings. Also a couple of bit of cotton wide lace in a nice dusty pink and a brown one. I only bought a meter of each as it was £2.80 and £2.50 a meter. On the way back to the car I went into the RSPCA charity shop to look for a lether handbag I could cut up. Found one for a pound but would only get one good pouch out of it so I moved on to a rail and there lo and behold was a brand new pair of sheep leather trousers. I could'nt believe my luck. They are brown very soft leather and very long. Price I thought would be about £15 or £20 but the price ticket said £7 so I bought them. When I showed oh he said put them on Ebay you'll get about £60. I want the leather so I am not doing that. They are lovely though and all fully lined.

Hi all, I spoke to soon about getting a good nights sleep. I started to watch the Stammering programme, but gave up at 9.30. and went to bed. What with a touch of indigestion, and thinking of my sister, I gave up and came out here at 11.00 pm

My Sister, I rang her today, and she could hardly breath when talking. I said you need some inhalers to help you. Her reply was. I DON'T WANT TO BREATH ANYMORE. For whatever reason, she is so low, I don't know if I should get Ros to take me down to see her. But then what can I do. ?? I will ring my SIL tomorrow to see if she can get her DOCTOR to go and see her, and hopefully treat her breathing condition.

I see you bailed James out with the cakes Jane. I can understand there comes a time when it gets beyond a JOKE buying for every TOM DICK AND HARRY. and the expense of cream cakes is unacceptable. Glad I don't work anymore.

Ros has given up on her weight loss. She went the other day to be weighed and the girls were queuing out of the door, so she gave up and come home.

I am waiting for Madam to go to bed. She has her Jewellery programme on. Talk about boring :-| :-| :-| It's like watching paint dry. She has just called down to say she is going bed. So I will find something to watch for an hour or so.

GOODNIGHT.

Morning all

It's our anniversary today (31 years) and we've not received one card off either side of the family. To be honest we never get a card off OH's side but my mum normally gives us one, well if we remind her of the date, but so far nothing :-( Sandra was so upset the other day that we asked her to make some anniversary cards, one for me to give to OH and one from OH to give to me. It cheered her up and yesterday she bought us some flowers in lots of pretty colours.....bless her <3

It's still dark outside so I don't know what the weather is going to do today. As far as I can tell it's not frosty, but still very cold.

How are you getting on with your tree Mel?

Hope you managed to get some sleep in the end Frank and your indigestion cleared up. Sorry to hear about your sister, hope she feels better soon. Good idea to have the doctor take a look at her, she could have a chest infection, which won't help.

Frank Report 10 Jan 2018 11:16

Good morning Gill, and A HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU BOTH. xxx Hi to all,

Finally got some sleep, Ros was up before me, and let me sleep in until 9.00 am. I'm ll showered shaved and dressed in Trousers and shirt. I might ONLY MIGHT, go for a stroll round the block to get a breath of fresh air.

Simon rang this morning to check on us.He seems to be very caring, phoning every few days. Sally is on a day off, and Simon is working 12.00 noon until 10.00 pm What a horrible time to start and finish work. His adopted son has a nineteen month old daughter and is is expecting another on 27th March, so they are being kept busy.

The sky is actually clearing this morning, and we have BLUE SKY and SUNSHINE. What a treat that is, after all this damp and dismal weather.
Nothing planned for today, apart from sorting out what to eat tonight.

I am feeling quite perky this morning, so everything is going to plan. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I trust you are all well, enjoy the sunshine, if you have it. xxx

Morning all,

Yes Frank we have sunshine too today. I really thought it was going to be wet wet wet today but its rather nice.

Oh is making something out on the patio today. Its like a style so he can get over the loft braces as he can't bend under them. We are going to have a good clear out in the loft as it badly needs it and then anything we do want will go in plastic boxes and be stored up there after the loft is lagged.

Gillx

Gillx Report 10 Jan 2018 12:58

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. We got one card through the post today off my friend in Australia. We went to school together and have kept in touch ever since she moved to Oz when we were both 15 years old. I was surprised to receive a card off her as her husband has just left her for another woman so I didn't think she'd be thinking of Anniversary's. She still hasn't replied to my two emails I've sent her, so I hope she's okay.

So you're going to be busy in your loft then Mel. We need to go through everything in our loft too, but I'm going to wait until I've finished down here first. I've taken everything out from under our bed but unfortunately the material I had under there smells a bit musty, so I'm just about to wash it all. Everything is different colours so I'll need to wash it all separately, it's going to take me the rest of the day I think :-|

Did you go for your stroll in the end Frank? The sun is out here too but it's still quite cold. That's nice of Simon to keep in touch like that, he's very caring towards you and Ros. His adopted son is going to be busy when the new baby arrives.

Well, the washing machine has just finished so I'd better make a start on all this material.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Jan 2018 13:24
