Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Jan 2018 21:59

Winds gone here too.

Jane that tree would'nt last five mins in the wood burner it is so rotten. It looks like its nearly paper already. Why on earth had'nt they done something about it before? Shame it came your way. Its made a mess of your fence too.

I had another little go at my tree again last night and I put osme info in and saved it but when I went back to it it had all gone . This happened three times. I wanted to put this chaps death in in 1892. He died in the workhouse. Went in on 11.11.92 and died they next day.

I had to put all his death things on his daughters notes. It took it ok on her details.

Oh got some boards down in the loft today and more lagging.

O gosh I wish James had run one of our foxes over and killed it. They do make quite a bump when you hit them. I hit a badger one night coming home in the dark. You can't see them till you hit them as they are the same colour as the roads and we have no street lighting.

Morning all.

We have bright sunshine at the mo and its showing up all the dust on my desk so I had to go and get a duster to clean it off. I must wash the glass doors to the lounge too as they are showing dusty and dirty where the sun is shining through.

Slept well last night and hope you lot got a good few zzzz's in.

Jane no I couldnt get to the woodshavings in oh's garage as I could'nt move the sack barrow with two bags of cement on so I thought I would go round the other way. I tried but he had put more stuff there so he could get all the lagging in there. Once some of that is out and I can get the sack barrow out then the chair with the grinder and a reel of electric cable on it I should be able to get to the shavings.

Morning all

Sunny here too Mel and a bit warmer than it has been lately.

It was like that for me the other day Mel, once the sun came out I could see all the dust so had a good polish around.

It sounds like you've got a right to do getting to the shavings haven't you? How is your OH getting on with the loft. We had ours done for free and it only took the two men a few hours, it makes such a difference and now the bungalow is really warm once the heating goes on.

Going to track down all my books today so they are all together then I can put them all in a few boxes so I know where they are and they don't get separated again. OH is going to try and get me some small boxes so I can put them in the single wardrobe. The boxes I have are to big and a bit to long so the door won't shut.

I can't believe how much stuff I've shoved in draws and wardrobes over the years. I need to move one of the shelves down in the single wardrobe so I can put the boxes in as the gap is really small between two of the shelves. So that's my day sorted. I thought it wouldn't take long to do our bedroom but there seems to be more in there than the whole bungalow put together ;-)

What is everyone else up to today?

Oh is in the loft and I can hear srews going in so he must be putting the legs on the joists so another layer of lagging can go down then the boards on top. Then when he has done that section he can move the stuff onto that and do the next section. Its an area of 8 metres by 16 metres that he is boarding so we can walk from one end to the other.

Good morning to you all,

Guess who's just walked in ?? OUR LEWIS. He has grown since we last saw jim. Must be SIX foot plus now. Ros is just getting his Bacon Sarnies and a coffee. Then we can sit and have a chat. Not that he has much to say.

Spoken to my Sister and SIL rigs morning. It's SILs birthday today I think she is 83. My Sister will be 83 on 4th March.

Glad to see OH is getting on with the loft Mel, that will be a good job out of the way.

What are all the books you have Gill. ?? When I finished reading my books they go straight to the Charity Shop. We wouldn't have the space to keep them.

Wha's the news on the tree Jane, ?? I hope Chris managed to sort it our without any upsets.

I see we haven't seen Anne again for a few days, I hope she is getting better. We send our love. xx

Well I had better go and chat to the boy. See you later.

How lovely Lewis has arrived Frank. Lots of catching up to do. Has he still got the beard?

Been having a bit of a clean out with the big girls. I did manage to move soem things so I could get to the wood shavings so their nest aare nice and clean now. I just put the old nest stuff in the house to make that dryer.

Just having a COC now after taking my morning pill.

Had quite a heavy shower of rain while I was out there and the min I got back in the sun came out again.

Thinking of our Anne and hoping she is getting steadily better. Give that Ruby a hug for me please.

Frank Report 19 Jan 2018 13:38

Hi Mel. Lewis has just gone home as he has the little kitten to sort out. I don't know if I mentioned it. Julia bought him for Harvey for Christmas. It's an ENGLISH BLUE. Such a lovely little thing. He still has his stubble, which looks quite nice on him, Lewis not the cat lol lol/

Beautiful sunny day here, but still very cold outside.

We heard this week that our neighbour, who has the cats, and has been in hospital since before Christmas, won't be coming home again. She is slowly DIEING. The cats are being removed to a rehoming centre. So our garden won't be used for their TOILET anymore. Ros will now be able to replant the garden, and know it will stay like it. Joy the neighbour, hasn't been well for years. But recently went out and bought a new car, that sits on the drive. She has a daughter in town, so I expect she will have that. As as when anything happens to her I expect we will have new neighbours. I just hope they won't have any CATS.

Shin of Beef in gravy ready to go in the oven to tick away slowly, it will melt in your mouth tonight. Brussels, carrots and Parsnips, with Mash potato's.

Looking out the back there is a bank of BLACK CLOUDS building up. I hope it's rain clouds and not SNOW.

Had a good laugh this morning. On "THIS MORNING" a woman phoned in to say her sister who was eight years older. Pushed her pram in a lake with her in it, pushed her down the stairs and broke a leg, and tried to kill her. She asked if they thought as they are older now, would they be able to put i behind them. Another woman said her sister tried to put her brother down the toilet and drown him. WHAT LOVELY RELATIONS TO HAVE. LOL LOL. And I thought I came from a strange family. !!!

Lewis is going to arrange for us to meet up for a meal one weekend. When that will be, who knows. !!! We have invited Harvey, Julia and Lewis up for Sunday lunch, but yet to set a date, that was weeks ago.

I trust you are all well and fit. (who is these days ??)

Gillx

Gillx Report 19 Jan 2018 14:38

So Lewis has grown to over 6 foot now then Frank. I think I'm going in the other direction, at this rate my height will start with a 4 ;-) ;-) You're shin of beef in gravy sounds nice. Hope you didn't get rain with those black clouds, we've still got the sun here.

I have a selection of books Frank but mainly sewing, cookery and garden books. I love them so never throw any of them out or give them away to charity shops. I have a Carol Klein gardening book which I call my bible as it's very good with lots of tips and tricks for plant growing.

I bet your girls are pleased now they have fresh bedding, that'll be better for them now Mel.

How did Chris get on sorting out the fallen tree Jane. Hope it'll be sorted soon for you both. Has James got over his cold yet?

Frank

Frank Report 19 Jan 2018 15:53

Pam next door has been in to tell us that the neighbour passed away on Wednesday. The daughter never bothered to tell anyone until last night. I also learnt that when Joy's husband died he left his daughter his home, which is still empty and hasn't been sold, she has had it a few years. I hope she doesn't do the same with her mum's bungalow.

The black clouds passed over and we have a bit of sunshine again.

It's good that you keep that type of book Gill. There is always something that you need to know.

Ros has collected the Prescriptions only to find they have sent me some tablets the I have never taken before. She's on e phone now, trying to find out why. !!!

Dinner is in the oven and smells lovely.

Jane

Jane Report 19 Jan 2018 18:02

Afternoon All
Mel the loft will be so easy to get around once it is all finished. You might even venture up there yourself :-D :-D

Gill I need you here to help me with all the stuff I need to sort. I just cant get motivated . My wardrobes and drawers are bursting at the seams with things I no longer wear.

So little Lewis is now a very tall Lewis :-D. He must tower over you Frank. He still sounds a very lovely lad even though he might not keep in touch as often as he did.
I bet those Bacon Sarnies went down a right treat :-D.
How odd you have got tablets that you have not had before. Are they someone elses I wonder? If so that it so so bad.

We are a right dozy pair today. Neither of us seems to have an ounce of energy.
Next door will be around in the morning to see the tree. I can see him cutting it up himself rather than paying or having his insurance. Maybe when he does see it he might realise it is a big task and then there is no way he will be able to get the rest of the tree down. I wouldnt be surprised if he turns up at stupid o clock in the morning . But I think it is supposed to be raining so who know what he will do.

James has taken Chris's car to work today as when he hit the Fox last night the Bumper has come loose .Fox stood no chance as James said he was doing 60. I can still see James's pale face when he came in. It must have been one heck of a shock.
On the 7th Feb he ,his Boss and another chap are going to Italy for business FOR THE DAY !!!!! . Heaven knows what time he will have to leave here . I think it is crazy . But I know that many people just POP over to Europe for meetings just for the day.
Then it is work again the next day!.

Ann that was a lovely gift OH had. Are you sure you can't 'borrow' it?
:-D

We had a heck of a frost this morning. It looked like snow everywhere. When I went out in the car at 11.30 there were chunks of ice flying off the roof as I was driving along.

Frank I wonder why your neighbours daughter has kept her Dads house empty for so long.It does seem a bit odd. As you say hopefully she wont do the same with her Mums. Shame about the Cats having to go into a Rescue Centre (I know you will be pleased though that your garden will be cat poo free). I do feel for these animals whose elderly owners have passed away.I expect the cats are fairly old too.
Lewis's little cat sounds gorgeous . My Horror is out and about ,no doubt looking for his supper.

Anne if you are looking in, I hope you are feeling a bit better today <3

Annx

Annx Report 19 Jan 2018 18:06

Evening All,

Sorry to hear about your neighbour Frank, but you would think her daughter would have either sold or let her dad's house. I would worry about leaving it empty what with the pipes freezing up or vandalism. She's a very lucky woman to be inheriting 2 houses if that is what has happened. I bet Ros will enjoy turning the soil in the garden this spring with no unwelcome surprises from the cats. :-) We were looking at another shrub in our front garden yesterday that is mostly dark brown now with their marking it. The trouble is, if I dig it up, I know they will move on to another nearby shrub and ruin that. :-S

Lewis has certainly shot up in height then............must be all those dinners you have fed him in the past!! LOL. It sounds like he is sticking with designer stubble for now and not growing a hipster beard. I don't see so many round here now (more's the pity!) so I expect it was a short lived thing.

Mel, you have a really useful sized loft that your OH is boarding. He's not going to put walls up and make it into a 'Man Cave' is he? :-D I loved the 2 side lofts in my old place, but this modern one in this bungalow is a nightmare with beams criss crossing the space making it lots of small areas rather than a big space.

What happened with the man next door and the tree Jane? Was there an agreeable result? That would have been horrid for James running over the fox. I remember many years ago driving dad's little Austin A35 van and running over a ginger cat that shot out between 2 cars. The sensation on the steering wheel through your hands was sickening and I pulled up to see if I could see it. There was no sign of it and I lifted the bonnet up very gingerly expecting it to be mangled in the engine. It was nowhere to be seen, just tufts of ginger fur. I couldn't get it out of my mind for ages after.

Ann you posted almost the same time as me.
Well can you Adam and Eve it. Mr Nincompoop next door has just been around with a little pencil torch to have a look at the tree !!!!!!!!! For heavens sake what is he like !!!!!
He will be around in the morning with his wheelbarrow !!! Then someone will be here in the afternoon to look at the fencing. Honestly I am lost for words. I need a drink :-D

Frank

Frank Report 19 Jan 2018 20:23

Jane, What sort of bloke is he, to have a pencil torch to view a fallen tree. Some kind of nutter in my opinion. I would DEMARD the he get an experienced person in to remove the tree. I can just see him with little barrow loads of wood, trampling up and down your GARDEN removing it. NO WAY. !!! and how long would it take him. ??

Jan and Jo haven't turned up yet. She said they were leaving around 3.30. so it's raking them a lot longer than usual. I trust all is fine with them and the car.

Lewis is still (thank goodness) a very polite and well mannered lad. I would hope that my influence has had something to do with that over the years. I know also his Mum and Dad wouldn't stand any nonsense .
So the loft is nearly complete then Mel. How long will it take to dill it with all your bits. lol

Well the meat tonight wasn't up to scratch. Both Ros and I thought it a bi tasteless . There is plenty over for JJ if he wants it. !!

I see WHITECHAPEL is on Sky 119 tonight at 9.00. So I will turn that on after Ros has finished with her SOAPS. !!!

See you in the morning. xx

Jane

Jane Report 19 Jan 2018 21:14

I shall try and get some sneaky pics tomorrow Frank . Honestly he needs his bumps feeling as they say.
I am off to bed now . Will keep you all up to date tomorrow as to how the tree clearance goes.
I hope Jan and Jo have arrived . It is always a worry when someone doesn't arrive when you expect them.Maybe there has been a bit of a hold up on the Motorway.

See you all tomorrow x

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Jan 2018 22:43

Its not one large space up in the loft and I think he is only boarding the middle sso he can get to either end. There is loads of stuff up there and he has to keep moving it about to lag the next bit. He layed three boards today so he said he is going for a record tomorrow of four boards. Firs tthing this afternoon he lost his tape measure so I supplied him with mine. Second thing was he could'nt get in the workshop to find his fret saw, he has about three of them, so I gave him my little one. I went to corn the chickens and moved the sack barrow with the two bags of cement on round the corner a bit and got round to where I HAD put some of his tools away from another job he was doing in the summer. I HAD put them in an old washing up bowl as HE had left them in a cardboard box out in the rain with various other bits and bobs. I HAD put them in the workshop on the shelf where the roof dos'nt leak or you get condensation drips off the roof. There in the bowl I found one perfectly dry fret saw and a grinder. When I went up into the loft hole as I could hear him using my saw, He had found his tape, he had left it under a box he moved when he bropught me down my lovely spelter Eglantine figure. Needless to say when he came down I asked him for my tape and he had left it up the loft. My saw too. Now whether I shall ever see them again is another question?

Di called in this morningvery unexpectedly. I had said to her that I wanted some nice leather to make some pouches out of and she told me someone had left a leather coat at the big house and it was never claimed. She asked Susanna if she may have it and she said yes so she brought it round for me. After she had gone I had layed it on the kitchen floor to see which bits were the best leather when oh walked in and said don't cut it up. I asked why not? to which he put the bl**dy thing on and it nearly fitted him a treat he just has to lose a stone and he could get it done up!!!!!! So I think Ihave lost that............

Frank

Frank Report 20 Jan 2018 08:45

Good morning to you all,

Horrible day here, absolutely hammering down with rain. I got up 7.30 to let JJ out. He came back in soaked. I have toweled him off, and he's in the armchair on a fleece. Ros has just come out so he's having a mad five minutes.

Mel your OH hasn't covered his tools with the boards has he ?? I expect it could easily be done, working in a confined space.

Jane, Not only does he need his bumps felt. He needs certifying . What an idiot of a human being he is. !!!

No plans here today, what are you all doing. ??

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Jan 2018 10:38

Morning Frank and all,

Not very nice here this morning either Frank. Cloudy sky and damp looking.

Only the usuasal thing today to do, deliver the eggs and fetch the paper.

When I woke up this morning (late) oh had put all my clothes on a line on the bedroom radiator, ahhhhh was'nt that nice? He had the loft hatch open so he must have thought I would like that as the heat goes up the loft. Bless...... <3

Had another email from my cousin Hilary this morning. She had been snowed in for three days. She told me one day in the week they had 5 inches of snow and then later another 3 inches. Sandra would have been in her element!!

Frank

Frank Report 20 Jan 2018 11:13

Well it had to happen again sometime. I had a shave and turned on the shower. Stripped off and got in. I still had my slippers on, I did it once before. What a senile old begger I am getting ;-) ;-)

Have changed two bulbs in the kitchen. I now need Ros to replace them when she goes shopping. It always happens that when one goes another follows.

How many Eggs are you getting these days Mel ?? I thought they slowed down during the winter.

The rain has stopped, and left everywhere very misty and wet. Not the nicest of days.

I have promised myself I will go to the pub at lunchtime to see the football. I haven't been in there since before Christmas. They will wonder what's happened to me.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 20 Jan 2018 11:16

Morning all,

Cloudy here ,the first we had this morning has gone off the shed roof so the temperature must have come up a little.

So you,ve lost the leather jacket then Mel :-D perhaps you'll find another in the charity shop when your next in town.
That was nice of OH to warm your clothes up for you.
What a lot of snow your cousins had ,it must look lovely .

So you have your little friend for company again Frank ,they must be pleased he settles with you so well plus it saves them money not having to kennel him.
Lewis sounds a lovely young man ,it would be nice to see a photo of him we haven't seen him all grown up with his designer stubble :-D

How's the tree moving going this morning Jane , he's got a lot of barrows to push to move all that ,plus he's going to churn all your lawn up with the weight of the barrow .
I'm still smiling thinking of the small torch he brought round to see the tree.

How is OH's eye now Ann ? you only need a little some thing in it and a few rubs and the eye soon gets sore ,hope he's had no more problems with it.

Not a lot happening here ,Colin has lit the fire and has a few jobs to do ,I've just got the chicken ready to roast later and done all the veg ,so i think this afternoon we'll catch up with a few recorded programmes and I'll get the knitting needles out and do some more dolls clothes.
