Afternoon all

It's so windy here today and we've had some rain earlier. The garden is water logged again :-(

Lovely to hear from Liz, pity about the weather though, it sounds like we've all had bad weather today.

Love the photo's of the ring Ann, you are clever.

So you think it could be Gall stones Frank. Hopefully the ultra sound will let you know either way.

What a palaver at the shop Mel, at least you got them in the end, but like you said they could of at least checked to see if they could get your size, no wonder high street shops are closing with that attitude.

It sounds like you've been busy Mandy with your hoovering and polishing. I'm going through my wardrobes at the moment too, although they are more like cupboards than wardrobes as there's not much in the way of clothes in there. Good luck with your sorting when you start it.

I'm still plodding through my paperwork, I've finally got everything into piles but need to go through the piles to see what needs throwing away. Hopefully I'll end up with a couple of files instead of the five I started with.

OH and I are feeling a little under the weather today, both feel like we're coming down with something. I'm so tired I can't concentrate on my sorting so have put it to one side for now. I managed to get through a bit this morning though. OH is having another bath as that seems to make him feel better. He's back at the doctors on Friday for his X-ray and blood results so if he still feels ill he'll mention it to her. He thinks it might be tonsillitis as he's prone to that in the winter months. I feel for him as it's been one thing after another lately. I just feel drained all the time and very thirsty.

Nice to hear from Liz on the thread. So both Ian and I have suspect Gallstones, I expect Cas does get very wet, especially if she is out beating in the weather. She won't be putting on any excess weight doing that JOB. I hope everything goes well for Ian at the hospital.

Haven't been a terrible day. It's still blowing a gale outside. I have been out to feed the birds, but that as far as I am going today.

Ros wants to recover the pouffe in the lounge, so I have just ordered her some tacks on line. The upholstery shop in Towcester don't sell them, and it will save her a trip to Town.

I had a cupa soup at lunchtime and it didn't go down very well. Left me felling a bit sick. I hope is pass's before dinner tonight. Or I won't be eating much again.

Evening All
What a couple of days we have had. A very memorable one too. What with the wonderful Graduation Ceremony,a West End Musical and meals out the icing on the cake was Gareth asked Chris for Hannahs hand in Marriage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. As you can imagine I am like a Cheshire Cat at the moment LOL .

Monday evening we all had an early dinner before seeing Kinky Boots. The restaraunt was at Convent Garden. We then walked the short distance to the theatre. The show was fantastic but oh my word it was soooooo loud.It was painful for Chris 's ears and he really didnt enjoy it.
Yesterday morning we ordered a taxi to take us to the Barbican for the Graduation .But because of a big Gas leak it couldnt take us all the way because of road closures and diversions so we had to walk part of the way. Not good with my hip but I did take my stick which helped a bit. Poor Hannah arrived an hour later than she wanted as she had a heck of a job getting there. She was all a bit of a hooha when she arrived as she had to collect all out tickets and get her robe. But all was fine. She calmed down and we went to the loo where she splashed her face with cold water and redid a bit of makeup. It was a very proud moment to hear her name called out (except the man got her middle name wrong) ,and to see her walk across the stage. Afterwards she went to have the professional photo done with the floppy hat(we cant think of the right name for it) .Then there was the reception with Buffet and drinks for an hour. We then went to a pub up the road for a drink and gave Hannah her gift(a lovely pen).A taxi ride then to a little restaurant called Blixon at the Old Spittalfieds Market. James left us then to meet up with an old school friend. It was when Hannah and I went to the Loo that Gareth asked Chris is he had any objections to him and Hannah getting married.
To say was gobsmacked is an understatement LOL . He didnt tell me until we got back to the hotel. he is now worried about the father of the bride speech . Not that it will be until next year LOL So that was our trip to London . I will be in bed very soon as it has been an exhausting few days and my blasted hip is a nightmare.

I will try and catch up with posts tomorrow.

When I went to shut the chickens in doing the bantams first , as I take their food out at night. On the way back I nearly trod on a lovely frog.

Pork is smelling nice and I have done a tray bake ofonion, parsnip, carrots and tatoes. Home made apple sauce and a few peas.

O Jane so there could be wedding bells in the near future. It sounds like you had a whale of a time even if it was a bit hard on the old hip. I can imagine you grinning from ear to ear.. Congratulations to Hannah and them both!! xx <3

Annx Report 24 Jan 2018 20:54

What an exciting few days Jane! I don't know how Chris managed to not tell you till you got back to the hotel. It gives you lots of time to find a dress and ......maybe a hat?? lol. You are going to be busy this year I expect with planning etc.

We tried a refurbished place taken over by the place we did the fused glass at for lunch. They had 3 different menus including 'THE BUSS PASS MENU' lol, so we had 2 courses for less than a fiver from that. There was a good choice but we both had the roast lunch followed by apple pie and custard. The helpings weren't large, but were enough with the dessert.

Mandy, I always have the poppyseed or herb ones from the selection OH gets as he doesn't like them. They were almost giving them away at that price weren't they! :-0 You've been busy with the hoover and duster today and if you find any of that motivation, send me some please. I still need to go through some cupboards and drawers in the bedroom.

Gill, I have been doing more paperwork today. It's like battling with a rising tide.

Oh you might be rattling with stones not pills then Frank. :-) It's good to get it all checked out though as you can't carry on as you are with losing weight. IF it is stones it might help if you avoid anything fatty in the meantime, so scrape that butter thinly. When OH got back from the docs he said his BP was a bit high so he has to do a week of checks at home and hand it in. He's had this before, white coat syndrome, and his home checks are always lower. Then he told me they said he had lost a stone since 12 months ago. He told the nurse it was down to me as he has poached eggs on toast with me and less cooked breakfasts now, also carveries with lots of veg!! lol. I just wish it had as big an effect on me!! He easily eats double what I have and more naughty things like F&C when I am out sometimes. :-)

Frank Report 24 Jan 2018 21:41

Well apart from Weetabix for breakfast and the horrible Cupa Soup. I haven' eaten today. I just couldn't look at food, even though i cooked the casserole and dished it up for Ros.

I am feeling so low, I wouldn't mind going to sleep tonight and not waking up in the morning. I will ring the doctor tomorrow, to see if there is anything he can help me with.

Ros is at the hospital tomorrow at 11.30 for the pre op.asestment, before her operation for the prolapsed bladder. She wants me to go with her, I can't see why. but I expect she wants my support.

So pleased the everything went well for Hannah today. What a lovely surprise, for Garath to ask Hsnnah's hand in marriage, Congratulations to both of them. xxx

Off to bed now, hope I feel a bit better tomorrow. Sleep tight ll.

Morning all,

Weather a lot brighter here today, Clear blue sky ad sunshine.

Slept well last night, got up 7.30 had my tea, showered and shaved, dressed and ready to go to the hospital with Ros. I won' go in with her for her pre- op, just going to keep her company.

Still don't feel like eating.I might get myself eggs on toast at lunchtime. As for dinner tonight I have no idea.

I must ring Simon, as I think he and Sally are popping over tomorrow afternoon. I need to know if they will be staying for a meal, or fancies going out to eat late afternoon. It will be nice to see them both, and be a bit of company for me.

I hope you are ll well, enjoy your day, whatever you are doing.

Jane I don't want to hear you have been out buying a wedding FROCK lol lol Have you any idea when the happy day will be. ??

Have a wonderful day and be spoilt by everyone.

We have sunshine this morning but just now the wind came up and we had a heavy shower of rain but it did'nt last long.

Jane did you sleep last night after all the lovely news you had yesterday. I bet you were actually tired out after all the excitment of Hannah's graduation and the surprise of the future wedding.

Frank I hope you did manage to sleep last night. Shall be thinking of Ros today. Sending love and hope she gets on ok at 11.30am. <3

Mandy I think you are right with the Tudor Bonnet, I was thinking it looked like something Henry would wear.

Morning all

Sunny here but still a bit cold.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZ HOPE YOU HAVE A LOVELY DAY

What wonderful news Jane, do you know when the wedding is going to be next year? It sounds like you all had a brilliant time, love the photo you sent.

Hope all goes well for Ros today Frank. How are you feeling now after feeling low yesterday? Hope you are feeling a little better. It'll be nice to see Simon and Sally again, like you said it's a bit of company for you.

You had a bargain with your lunch yesterday Ann, 2 courses for less than a fiver and a good menu too. Yes, I know what you mean about sorting out papers, it's seem to be never ending. I had a good go yesterday and managed to get one file done, but I do need to crack on with it as half my living room floor is covered with paper bills in plastic covers and they're in the way.

Going for a bath now, I've just been doing some work in the garden, I'll be glad when it's spring again so I don't get so muddy. I had a good nights sleep so don't feel so tired today. OH is still in pain with his back so will be glad to see the doctor again to see if there's something that can be done about it.

Suns shining brightly and it makes you feel good.

Just having a COC and then I am going to clean the bathroom.

Oh is moving stuff around in the loft so he can do some more. We have another 12 flooring boards coming tomorrow.

Frank

Frank Report 25 Jan 2018 15:27

Alls well with Ros for her pre-op tests etc. Just the wait now before she hears when she will go in hospital. We can't make any plans about going to Spain until we know.

I have poken to Sally, both she and Simon are working until 10.00 pm tonight. Simon has to be at the hospital to have his blood taken at 1.00 pm. They will then come here, and go for a late lunch/early evening meal. There are3 or 4 places we can go. So no trouble booking first.

Another 12 boards Mel. Tell OH when he's finished he can come and do mine. lol

Gill, you never seem to sit still for a minute, you always seem to be doing something. I bet a hot bath with be welcome after being out in the garden. There are times when I miss a good soak in a hot bath.

No cooking tonight. Ros is doing one of the stir fries. she is at Choir practice tonight, so I have free range of the T.V. control box.

Still feeling NOT HUNGRY and got this continue BURPING. Didn't bother the doctor today, see how I go on over the weekend.

Pouring with rain NOW and as black as your hat. !!!

Afternoon Everyone
Frank,if Ros has had the pre op checks now surely this will mean the op wont be too long.I always thought pre op checks were done a week or so before an op.At least all her checks were good. The sooner she gets this problem sorted the better for her now.

Have you had a nice relaxing soak Gill? I think I might have a bath later. I really thought there was going to be a bath at the Premier Inn as every other one I have stayed in has had one . But it was just a shower this time.

Mel I slept like a log last night :-D. Chris did too. He was a little emotional after a couple of glasses of wine . I think it was all a bit overwhelming with Hannah's Graduation and then Gareth asking that question LOL ..
No idea when the wedding will be.I dont think there are any plans just yet. It'll be next year.

I picked Thomas up just before 11 this morning. He has had 2 mice already that have seen. He is in and out being very vocal . Probably just making sure we are here and that we know he is here too :-D :-D

Ann I saw the pics of the rings you made on FB . They are really lovely. I can see you making more things now :-D
Chris is calling ,my neighbour is on the phone.(not the tree neighbour )

<3 <3 <3HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZ <3 <3 <3 .

Jane many congratulations to Hannah that was a beautiful photograph of her she will make a lovely bride. Gareth asking for her hand in marriage must have been the icing on the cake.

Frank I hope you are feeling better today, it's not nice when you have a loss of appetite and won't be helping how you feel. It does sound like Ros is fairly near to having her Op. I can understand why she needs you there for moral support when seeing the specialist.

I had my Sainsbury shop delivered today apart from that just pottered around doing odd jobs. We are also having stir fry tonight, one of my favourites, easy and quick.

I have an appointment with the phlebotomist tomorrow at 8am.. I hope she manages to get enough blood out of me. It's all part of my yearly diabetic check so nil by mouth from about 8pm. She will also weigh me, check my feet and take my BP. I have to take my own prior to my visit as I get white coat syndrome as soon as I step through the door.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Jan 2018 18:07

I have been busy doing nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you know what I mean. I did'nt get the bathroom cleaned because oh passed me some flower arranging stuff out of the loft to put in my shed. When I got to the shed I could'nt get to the plastic box I wanted so had to move things about. Put all that away and got sidetracked clearing up some other stuff in the shed. I have also been holding doors open for wood to come through and go up the loft and guiding long peices of wood up to oh in the loft. He said he has'nt done anything up there today except move stuff about so he can get to the next section.

Anne good luck tomorrow with your tests. Hope everything will be ok. when you had your blood pressure taken think of a nice quiet place and relax into it. I always think of a place we went to at Lydford Gorge where the river runs as clear as crystal over lovely coloured pebbles and little rocks and you can see little trout. When we went there it was a lovely sunny day and it was about May and all the beech trees above had their pale green leaves on with the sun shining through. It was really magical.

Its good that Ros is over her pre op tests and now it should'nt be too long before she gets her appointment for the op surely?

Annx

Annx Report 25 Jan 2018 18:26

Afternoon All,

What a mixed bag the weather has been today. We started with sunshine, then it drizzled and it's just finished pouring down. The fields around here all have some lying water and are all sodden so I expect your stint in your garden was very wet Gill. Your hubby must be fed up with his back pain now. I find that any moving about seems to involve your back so it's pretty miserable. I hope they will be able to do something for him.

We went to the new retail park at Rugby this afternoon as it has a Homesense shop there which I like and the parking spaces are large. There is a Debenhams and T K Maxx which we don't have on the retail park near us and there is a Next, M&S etc. I got a nice black cardigan , a mirrored, silver and grey patterned jewellery box and OH found some socks he liked and a beard trimmer! We came home a different way as there were cars queueing a long way coming the opposite way when we came and he was going to a meeting tonight and didn't want to be late!

After our bins were emptied this week we got home to find one fallen over on the drive with the lid hanging half off and the pin from the hinge nowhere to be seen. OH rang the council yesterday afternoon and they said they would call in the next 5 days and to leave it in the drive which we did. When we got home today they had been and repaired it while we were out so that was quick service! We've also read in the local paper that we are going onto a fortnightly bin collection after the summer. We may struggle with the recycling bin as despite us eating out quite a lot it gets full after a week sometimes and I thought they wanted to encourage recycling which we have always done. Not sure what they expect us to do with the surplus, as they are only allocating bigger bins where there are more than 2 occupiers.

That's good news Ros has the go ahead for her op Frank. As Jane says they usually have you in quickly after the assessment so it shouldn't be long. I hope you manage to eat a little when you go out with Simon and Sally and it will be good to have a chat and change of scene. It's good you slept well last night, but I would let the doctor know if this low feeling persists as he may be able to help. <3

Mel, with all this exercise in the loft, your OH will soon be able to do up the leather coat you lost to him! He's good sticking at these jobs to get them done isn't he and is making good progress. I was just thinking about the thing I hate most about being up in the loft and it is the fear of forgetting where the hole is that the ladder comes through and stepping back and losing your footing!! :-0
