Anne Report 27 Jan 2018 21:53

Dull and rainy all today and my sore throat has come back again. I will be glad when spring comes round

Sorry to hear Mandy and Colin have now got this flu bug that is doing the rounds at the moment having the flu jab doesn't seem to stop it. It is best to stay in bed if you can with plenty to drink I found the Lemsip tablets helped as they contain paracetamol and helped the sore throat as well.

Gill poor Glyn is certainly going through the mill at the moment with so much going on health wise. Is he being prescribed the same antibiotics every time? He does seem young to be having so many problems with his back.

Ann, I have never been to any football or rugby matches but when I was young Dad played cricket for the British Legion and a good many Sundays in the summer we would go to nearby villages to watch him play and afterwards a visit to a local pub where we would be bought crisps and lemonade to eat outside.

Frank it sounds as though you did enjoy a small part of your meal and had an enjoyable chat with Simon in the car while the girls were shopping. It does seem a tad ambitious to do so much on a trip to London in one day and very tiring too.

A friend of Paul and Richards called today with his 2nd wife the main reason was to meet Ruby she went completely OTT they have a rescue bulldog but didn't bring him with them which probably was a good thing. Trevor went to primary school with my two and his first wife is Sue's sister so his 3 children are Abbie and Becky's cousins. He had not long been diagnosed with Parkinson's decease and finding it hard to come to terms with

Morning all,

We have that fine rain blowing in curtains across the back field. The stuff that soaks you and you don't realize.

Nothing planned for today so will so how I get along.

Oh has just gone up the loft so I think he is laying lagging today and hoping to get a couple of boards down in the next bay.

So where are you all?? gone down the plughole?

Frank

Frank Report 28 Jan 2018 12:31

Here I am Mel, Good morning to you and all. (sorry afternoon)

We have a nice day here, I went to he dustbin earlier and the breeze/wind is quite warm and the sun is very nice on your face/back. I think it's warm enough to sit out. Nor that I will be doing that lol lol.

As it's our Ruby wedding in June, I mentioned to Ros I was looking at buying her a piece of Jewellery with a ruby in it. Too late Frank. !!! She saw a Ruby Ring on one of her programmes last night, after I had gone to bed. She said she was going to come and WAKE me up, to show it to me. Good job she didn't. I would' have been pleased being woke up, and would have had a shock at the price of it. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I too have never been to a Rugby match. When i lived in London as a lad, every Saturday was spent at one of the top teams in London, who were playing at home. Likewise I had many a happy trip to Wembley to watch Internationals and Cup Finals. Now is only on television that I watch it. Could be a age thing me thinks ;-) ;-) ;-)

September is our worst month for Birthdays. It seems Ros is writing and sending card every few days. How old will Chris be this year Jane ??

I hope you lot aren't passing your bugs to me. I had a rough old cough yesterday and a sore throat last night. I still have a tickling cough this morning.

Glad to see apart from Flu and bad backs, everybody seems O.K.

I have got out some slices of beef out of the freezer from Last week. That will be warmed up in a dish of gravy. I have prepared the veg. and made the cheese sauce and Yorkshire Pudding. I have halved the amount I use for the Yorkshire as we throw have of it out to the birds. Perhaps now, we will be able to eat it all.

I am down to my last two cans of beer. So I will have to make them last tonight.

I think I will get a Coffee and Biscuit, as I didn't have breakfast. Yesterday I had a Sandwich at lunchtime and a Chinese Crabmeat and sweetcorn soup with a Spring Roll last night. I hope I will eat my dinner this evening.

Good to know you are about Frank. Sounds like it was'nt a bad night for you then? Did Ros buy the ring? or are you going to buy it for her even though it was expensive. I know you think she's worth it and it is your Ruby Anniversary............... go on get it for her. <3 <3 <3

Gillx Report 28 Jan 2018 16:52

Afternoon all

It's been quite warm here today with a bit of sun.

Poor OH is still under the weather, he's been sleeping during the day as well as night time, so he must need it. I'm still running him baths as the steam from them seems to clear his chest a bit and they also help him sleep better during the night. I had to wake him up this morning, I woke up before him and realised he should of taken his first antibiotic of the day an hour earlier, so now he's an hour behind meaning his last one for today will be 1am in the morning. He did take the last one half an hour earlier than he should of done so he might get away with taking the last one at midnight. Lucky none of us go to bed early isn't it?

With OH being asleep, plus Sandra slept a lot yesterday I managed to finish off sorting through all my files so I can now see the living room floor. I found a few more that needed going through. I need some more small boxes so I can finished off our bedroom sorting, then I'll make a start on the kitchen. I was going to make a cheesecake and trifle yesterday but felt a little under the weather myself, more tired than anything so I didn't do them in the end.

Today I've been taking another look at my family tree, I'm still stuck on one section of my tree. Mel helped me with it before Christmas but we came to a standstill so I thought I'd take another look at it. I've managed to find a couple of people, but seem to be stuck again now. :-( :-(

I haven't caught up with the post yet so hope everyone is okay.

Going to make OH a drink and a hot water bottle now.

Jane

Jane Report 28 Jan 2018 17:16

Afternoon All
I agree Frank it has been a really mild day today but now it is beginning to get a bit chilly. So this ring? It sounds like it it is really expensive!!!. Will she get it or not :-D
:-D. I am sure you will find something really lovely for Ros if it is not this ring.

How much longer will OH be working on the loft Mel? Has he much more to do? It will be great once it is all done.

Anne, how is your throat today? I hope it hasnt got any worse. That is sad about Trevors diagnosis of Parkinsons. He must be in his early 50's :-( I cant imagine how hard it must be to come to terms with something like that .

Frank, Chris officially becomes a pensioner tomorrow 65 !! It doesnt seem possible really. We are going out for lunch to the Falcon at Fotheringhay. Tonight I am doing a nice roast with tiny Birthday cake and candles.Presents will be tomorrow evening when James gets home from work. He and Hannah have bought him an Alexa. I have managed to hang on to James's Alexa so have had music playing this afternoon. To be honest I dont think James will use it much .

I have Physio at the hospital tomorrow morning at 10.I am going ot have to tell the truth and say I have not been able to do all the excercises because of this Sciatica which seems to becoming more painful :-S. PIns and needles in the side of my calf and toes too.Chris will take me and pick me up as walking all the way down from the car park is going to be difficult . Fitz popped up with a birthday card earlier and he says Georgette is still not great after her flu. I wonder how our Mandy and her OH are today. Fit for nothing probably :-(. This flu business is still really bad.It just seems to be never ending.

We have traffic lights outside our house and another set at the end of Fitz's lane. Both sets of lights have been stuck on red today :-S. I wondered why there were so many cars queued up LOL. Eventually a car will decide to go anyway and then all follow.
There have been no workmen today to put the lights right.

I must crack on with dinner now. Both James and Chris have been asking what time we are eating. They must be peckish :-D

Frank

Frank Report 28 Jan 2018 17:41

It's only me. We have just finished dinner. I managed o eat half of it. But didn't really enjoy it as I wasn't hungry. Poor Ros, her gastric band comes in to play quite often when she is eating. It has done in tonight, She is now waiting for her band to clear so she can eat some more. It's a good job she likes cold dinners. !! because that's what she will be eating.

The RING was bought last night. I didn't have a say in the matter. ;-) ;-) As least now, I won't have to think what to buy her.

Have I missed something ?? WHO's TREVOR. ?? what horrible news to get at such a young age. My thoughts are with him.

So our Chris is going to be an OAP. Join the club old mate.!!! Hope you have many, many more birthdays.

Gill, If your OH doesn't improve you had better contact the Dr. I see that the Doctors are being told NOT to prescribe Anti-Biotics for colds and sore throats, as they don't work.

Jane I hope all goes well with the Physic in the morning. It must be difficult to do exercises when you are in pain like you are. But there again you have always been a pain in the bum. HAVEN'T YOU LOL LOL Love you really, xxx

Ros has dropped off to sleep sitting watching Foyle's War. I have seen it before anyway.

DOI and Vera tonight.

See you in the morning.

Jane

Jane Report 28 Jan 2018 18:05

Gill ,it wont matter if OH takes his antibiotics an hour earlier .Far better before he goes to bed and not have to wake him to take them.It wont do him any harm at all. What antibiotics is he on.? An hour or so either way is fine.

I am just watching Ski Sunday . I havent seen that for years. I used to watch it every sundaysome years ago. Hannah's Gareth is away now for a weeks ski-ing with his Dad .I think it is France (but not sure).Fingers crossed neither of them come home with any broken bones!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Jan 2018 19:10

I too used to watch ski Sunday every week Jane. I hav'nt seen it now for years. Hope Gareth and dad have a good time and no accidents. They will have a nice bit of man time together.

Frank Glynn has a chest infection so thats why he is on meds.

Well I have done nothing today in the way of my craft. All I have done is some washing and a little ironing and do the breakfast and wash up and do an afternoon cuppa and bun and fed the girls and shut them in.

Oh managed to lay three boards today but had had enough earlier and came down.

Frank you still hav'nt told us how much the ring was???? We will want to see a pic you know cos we are all nosy.

Jane

Jane Report 28 Jan 2018 19:12

Frank, I am always being told I am a pain in the backside LOL . It just seems to be getting worse. :-S. At least I have the appointment on tuesday with the GP :-D. But a 10 minute appointment is not really very long to get everything talked over. I am going to jot things down on a bit of paper just to make sure I tell him everything I am concerened about.

So the RING is bought :-D :-D :-D No need now for looking for anything else :-)

Dishing up dinner now. It smells good. I am waiting for either Chris or James to dish.I have done my bit and now need to sit :-D

Annx Report 28 Jan 2018 19:24

Evening All,

It was 14 degrees in the car when we went out! Phew!

I hope the physio isn't too painful tomorrow Jane. OH gets sciatica at times and lots of numbness and tingling in his thighs. He says it's almost become normal to have the numbness now. :-S I was wondering how Georgette was, it seems a really bad flu to get. I'd forgotten that Chris is just a tad older than my OH. He will also be drawing his OAP then!

Gill your poor hubby will be best to sleep and rest when he can. I hope the antibiotics soon help and that at least he will start to feel a bit better.

Parkinsons must be a difficult thing to come to terms with Anne. I don't know how I would deal with that. I hope your throat is no worse today.

I'm glad Ros got the ruby ring Frank.......the perfect gift for your ruby wedding!

Must go now and catch up tomorrow......the 'open all hours' sequel thing is on and then Call the Midwife.

Anne

Anne Report 28 Jan 2018 19:27

Frank, Trevor is a close friend of both Paul & Richard they all went to the same primary school he is also through his first marriage an Uncle to Abbie and Becky.

Gill it sounds as if you should take it easy yourself if you are feeling tired, you always seem to be on the go. You must be more kind to your self. Hopefully the antibiotics start to work this time. It seems unusual that the Dr prescribde them in the first place

So Chris is soon to join the OAP club Jane. A free bus pass too !!.

My throat is a little better again today thank goodness.

A full house today for Sunday roast, chicken this time with all the usual veg etc.
It's Ice Hockey this evening so peace reigns Ruby is laying beside me snoring away.

Mel your OH must be looking forward to finishing in the loft, he seems to be working very hard on it for quite a while now

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Jan 2018 23:55

Oh reckons its going to take him another two weeks to get it all done. I keep asking him if I can take a picture and he says no. He has put all the stuff up the west end of the bungalow which is over our bedroom and his study. I don't think he is going to do that bit as thats the new bit (done before mum moved in) and thats all boarded anyway. He wants an isle down to the water tanks at the other end of the bungalow. They are over the kitchen and a bit of the lounge. He has done over the bathroom, mums bedroom the hall little loo and the uti room.

He wants to put a new water tank in as he says the one we have has no cover on it and its full of muck and rust. More expensence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morning all

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS, HAVE A GOOD ONE ;-)

Hope all goes well at the physio today Jane, it must be awful to be in so much pain. Hope it eases soon <3
The antibiotics OH are on are Amoxicillin they seem to be starting to work now as he said he feels a little better today. He's still coughing though, but not as much. He took his last antibiotic at midnight. Thanks for letting us know taking it an hour earlier would be okay.

Your OH must be shattered with all this work in the loft and another 2 weeks work ahead of him. Don't you have someone who cold help him, it sounds a very big job Mel?

Sorry to hear about Trevor Anne, my FIL had that and found all the shaking very frustrating. He had to have a car specially adapted for him so he could get around easier. I had a good nights sleep last night so feel much better today. Although doing the gardening the other day has left me with sore muscles. I keep forgetting I'm not 21 anymore. I'm going to have a soak in the bath later so that'll probably help, then I'm hoping to find some small boxes to finish off my sorting in the bedroom. I have a few things on the chest of draws and they're going to get dusty if I leave them there much longer. Pleased to hear your throat is starting to feel a little better.

So Ros is having a Ruby ring for your anniversary Frank. I love Ruby's. What is she buying you?

The washing machine has just finished, so I better go and sort it out.

Frank

Frank Report 29 Jan 2018 10:31

Good morning to you all,

Thanks Anne I didn't know where Trevor came from lol. I must have missed that post.

It was certainly warm yesterday afternoon, but soon turned in late afternoon.

How nice for the pair to go off SKI-ING for a week. how do they get all this time off work ??

Not a good night for me again. Coughing a lot, with a headache across me eyes . Ros said I was twitching and grunting in the night. I did go to bed at 10.00 but was up again by 11.30. Nor sure what time I went back, but feel very tired this morning.

That is some job your OH has taken on Mel. It will certainly make the bungalow warmer, and cut down on heating costs.

All I will say about the RING is that she WON'T be getting anything else to go with it. The piggy bank is closed. !!! But being me,I expect I will find something else for her. I know she's worth every penny. <3 <3 <3

Must ring my sister today, to see how she is. I don't know why it is , but if I don't RING her, my SIL, cousin and friends, They never seem to bother ringing me. OUT of SIGHT out of MIND, comes to mind.

Off for my shower and shave, then sort out what to have for dinner tonight. I am yet to have any breakfast. Which is most unlikely, I will perhaps have another cot or coffee.

Hope everyone is well, see you later.

Morning al,

<3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS <3 <3

Have a great day from one OAP to another.x

Guess what oh is up in the loft working away and its raining............

I am sure I ordered something from Amazon for my crafts and it has'nt arrived but I can't find the email telling me when its coming.

Frank

Frank Report 29 Jan 2018 11:49

That is OLD AGE symptom Mel. So be careful.

Ros just called me to the kitchen. There was a BIG SPIDER sitting on the worktop covered in a very small web. How he thought he couldn't be seen I don't know. He was off like a flash under the unit where the washing machine is. Gone for ever one hopes.

Thanks also Mel, we have the rain here now.

Just been looking he GALLSTONES. They are giving me a bit of pain this morning. So roll on Thursday for my ultra scan. and hopefully a treatment date.

Gill, I have no Idea what Ros will buy me for our Anniversary. What do you buy a man that has everything in life that he wants.

I have some pork loin out of the freezer, so will make something with that and vegetables.

Hope Chris and Jane have a nice lunch at the Pheasant. They should do, as it has a good reputation.

Gillx

Gillx Report 29 Jan 2018 11:49

Could you not search for the email using the word Amazon Mel, it should bring all your Amazon emails up then you can search those for the one you need. So your OH is up in the loft again, he's certainly a worker isn't he?

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good nights sleep Frank, hope you have a better one tonight. No one rings us either so you're not on your own. Hope all is well with your sister and you had a good chat with her.

OH has got a sore tum now.......I don't know, I think I'll trade him in for a YOUNGER MODEL lol ;-) ;-)
