Oh dear Gill, you poor thing, what with worry about OH and now you feeling so wretched! Take it easy today and hope you feel better soon. We're like you this morning Mel, only without (!!!) the rain!! We're off shopping in a minute and going into Currys to get some TV info, hopefully!! Cas has had a good run, so she'll be staying at home. This afternoon OH will be cleaning our chimney as although we use very dry wood and 'Chimney Clean' regularly, it still seems to tar up and need doing about every six weeks! It's a pig of a job so I have to be prepared for some swearing!! OH has appeared so I think we're ready for the off!!

Morning All
Gill your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine which started just before New Year, I found the sore throat was the worse of it and all I wanted to do was sleep so try and take it easy, lets hope Sandra doesn't go down with it. I still have the cough but it is better than it was,
It's turned a lot colder here today but we do have some sunshine at the moment.
Ruby is in her usual spot sleeping beside me on the settee, I had a letter from the vet a reminder that her booster jabs are now due so must give them a ring later.
My check up at the dentist was fine and I don't need to go back for 6 months but need to make an appointment with the Hygienist.
Frank good luck with your ultra sound today hopefully you will find out what is causing you so much discomfort.

Today is the day the birds are suppose to chose their mates for the year. People who kept budgies always paired their birds on this day.
I meant to say I had an email from Ann about the pics I sent. Perhaps we will hear from her today. I do hope everything is ok with them both.

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes, I managed to strip the bed and get it in the wash and Sandra is going to help me make the bed up again later. I took a Beechams hot drink which helped for a while, just long enough for me to put my boots and shoes back in the wardrobe, so now they're not all over the living room floor. I'm off for a soak in the bath now to see if it helps with the achy feeling I've got. Hopefully the steam will help my cough too.
Good luck today Frank with your scan, I'm thinking of you.
I noticed this morning that the pigeons were getting a bit frisky in my garden Mel, mind you they're frisky all through the year LOL.
Before I forget Liz, I had a thought about free Sky and the fact you couldn't record. Would you be able to record on a DVD recorder. I only thought about it because I have one and if it's works then you'd still be able to record the programmes you like without having to subscribe to Sky, or buy another system. Just a thought.
Well, my bath's run so I'll go and get in it before it goes cold, then I'm going to settle down and watch a bit of TV. I don't feel like doing much today.

Good Morning to you all.
Well all I can say is "WHAT A NIGHT IT WAS" LOL. Ros was at choir practise from 7.00 till 9.30. She came home frozen to the core. The Church turns any heating off when they arrive, so gets colder the longer they are there. Anyway. She got into her nightie and dressing gown and had a hot drink. I had been watching different things on the tele, and was not interested in anything that was on, so turned over to her soap recording' s and went to bed
I was asleep before 10.30 and slept right through to 7.50 this morning. for the loo. Went back and slept until 10 30 when Ros came into the bedroom from showering. I sat on the side of the bed and drank a cup of tea. (NECTER)).!!! I was going to stay there, but felt I needed to get up.
Ros had rung the hospital to cancel my appointment. They are sending me another in the post. So another few days, not knowing where the blighters are. lol The tablets the Dr gave me last week have certainly helped with the discomfort.
I see you have all beed busy chasing away . It's so nice to have our Liz back. She always has interesting bits to feed to us. In the nicest way Liz xxx
Upsets in the household and marriage problems, always seem to rub off on the children. I can understand the boy having bad thoughts about his father. I'm sure this happened to Simon all those years ago. But having gone through a divorce himself through his wife having an affair, I think he can sympathise with me when it happened to me, now he can look back on it.
I watched a programme last night "Motorway Police" where an old chap 91 had an accident with an HGV, and damaged his car and burst a tyre. He was trying to change the wheel with his back to the motorway way. Along came the police. Parked their car to protect him. The SAGA went on, which I won't bore you with. BUT these two policemen went far beyond the call of duty, taking him to a car rental place, and sorting everything out for him to continue his journey to Holland for the Paratroopers reunion, that was lasting FIVE WEEKS. In his own car he had all his cloths and Provisions to last him FIVE WEEKS.To say the least these were all transferred from the scene of the accident by THREE police cars, and loading into the hire car. One policeman sat in the passenger seat and said with him until he felt comfortable driving he new car. His mate followed him to the motor way. He set off on his journey and made the ferry departure. This is the bit that got to me. WHILE THERE WITH HIS FRIENDS AT THE REUNION, THE POOR OLD CHAP PASSED AWAY. this is when I had tears running down my cheeks. Sorry to bore you, but what a wonderful thing those policemen did. They deserve a MEDAL.
Well now I have you girls in tears, I will go and get showered and shaved and dressed. I might feel more like a human being then, rather than a heap of NOTHING.

Yes, Frank I'm sitting here with tear down my face, what wonderful policemen they were.
Sorry to hear you've had to cancel your appointment. Hopefully it won't be to long before you have another one.
I've just made a shepherds pie for dinner, I felt like doing it when I started but regretted it half way through, never mind it's all done now and just needs heating up later.
I managed to make my bed with the clean bedding and Sandra said she can manage her's so I don't have to do it. I've just had another Beechams hot drink as they seem to help and now I'm going to have some soft boiled eggs as I haven't eaten all day. After that I'm just going to sit and relax, catching up with a few programmes I've recorded. I feel totally drained so will probably fall asleep. Sandra wants us to watch the final of Big Brother tonight then the two programmes about Big Brother that are on after it. It looks like it might be a late night, so a little sleep this afternoon should keep me going.

I saw that programme some weeks ago Frank! It was a lovely story but I couldn't help but wonder whether at 91 this chap was just a bit too senior to be driving at all let alone to Holland!!! Certainly though the Police were brilliant and so kind and thoughtful. Yes we're going to the Pub in the village that we always frequent. It's called The Rattlebone, and well worth a visit if you were ever this way! For us there is the added bonus of only being about half a mile away!! You're right too about children seeing parents in a more sympathetic light once they are experienced adults!! We've found that to be very much the case with both of ours. M now understands perfectly that aged 18 his car in bits on the drive for the umpteenth time with all that goes hand in hand with that senario was guaranteed to cause a major upset!! .Along with other motoring friends! and one idiot girlfriend after another, you can imagine how we tore our hair!! why our drive?..........need I say more!!! At the time he thought OH to be most unreasonable person on this earth!! Now he thinks we were mad not to tell him to shove off!! Gill, we've thought about a video recorder too. OH isn't sure, but we'll ask the chap on Monday. Curry were a bit vague and didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know. See what Monday brings! Cold here, but bright!! OH is busy chimney sweeping!!!

Done very little this afternoon. Nat. Geo. has been on while I have read the paper.
Liz the car episode bough back a memory . Harvey (Ros's Eldest) at 17 wanted a car which I got for him. He wanted a motor bike really but Ros refused POINT BLANK. He was out delivering orders one Wednesday afternoon when working for us in the shop. I was fishing down the canal, when he came walking down the tow path. He said he swerved to miss a rabbit and ended up in a ditch and hit an iron strut, which pushed the wheel and suspension up through the nearside wing. Th car was a totalk write off. He then decided he wanted a LOTUS ELAN. Which through a friend we were able to get. (he dealt in them) It was oldish, but Harvey assured us he could with help from his friends could do it up. He had it on the drive at Gayton and bits were removed from inside including the sports seats and stored in our very large greenhouse. The Mice had the time of their lives, making nests in them. The car was there for at least two years.Being Fibre Glass it didn't rust. but boy oh boy did the bodywork stain from the dripping of sap and bird muck from the bushes on the drive. One day a chap knocked on the door to ask if the Car was for sale. ?? Without hesitation Ros said YES !!!He came the evening and agreed a price with Harvey and had it taken away the next day. It wasn't until his Wedding Day a few years later that CONRAD his brother and Best Man. told the story of the "RABBIT". It turned out he was driving to fast when he reached the canal bridge and lost control, and went into the ditch and wrote of he car. Little or rather (BIG) begger. LOL He's built like the preverbal Brick whatsit !!! We often have a laugh about it even now. He is now over 50 years old. KIDS who would have them. lol
Gill you have a big ordeal on your hands this evening WATCHING BIG BROTHER FINAL. I have never ever seen it as with most of this type of show. !!! GOOD LUCK.
Simon has just rung again ro see how I am. He is getting so considerate keeping in touch with his OLD DAD !!!
I got two RIB EYES out of the freezer while Ros was out this morning. Did Mushrooms, onions and made the pepper sauce. Roa bought home some COD and fish cakes for tea tonight. So they are in the fridge for tomorrow,
My throat is a bit better, I am able to swallow and still have this horrible cough, and the taste in my mouth is something else. I am using mouth wash as though it's going out of fashion, and sucking humbugs. Roa will have to get some more tomorrow.
I seemed to have been on here for ages today. I just hope I haven't bored you all to much. xxx

Afternoon All
Oh dear Gill I am sorry you seem to have caught OH's bug. People seem to still be dropping like flies . Touch wood we are still ok here other than when James had it.
Frank ,I hope you get your new appointment through soon. I was thinking of you saying how much you burp and it made me remember my Sister burping for England ,and that was Gallstones. So maybe this is where your stones are. She had her Gall Bladder out. I remember seing that programme with the police and the elderly man a couple of years ago. The police were just amazing . I cried buckets then too.
Mel you seem to have had so much rain down there. We really haven't had anything.Just a little drizzle. It is just blooming cold. And they say it is going to get colder too.
I am getting worried about Ann. We havent heard from her now for a few days :-S I might try and give her a call.
No work needed on your teeth Anne.Just a clean with the hygienist . That is good. Saying that I find the hygienist worse than seeing the dentist sometimes.
Not sure how things are today with my Niece . I had a long chat with her last night and it was awful hearing her so tearful. She did say that her OH must have come back to the house yesterday when she was at work and he had a shower and left his dirty washing !!!!!. Bloody nerve . (pardon the language)
Need to get dinner on the go.

Thanks Mandy, it's good to be back with you all. Glad you are both beginning to feel better and that Max is such a good boy; I'm sure animals know when you're not well. Lovely to hear from your GC's too. This flu sounds really horrible, so far we've been ok, BUT there's plenty of winter left!! :-0 'L' had her gall bladder out too Jane, her symptoms had been come unbearable so it was all they could do. OH has his ultrasound on Feb 12th to see what's what. He also has an appointment with the Urologist on 19th. Not quite sure what the plan of action will be for him! which treatment will come first!!! We shall see!! At the moment our second homes are the hospital or GP's surgery!!! still, we are very lucky to be able to have all this treatment so look on the bright side!! Left his dirty washing?!!! That would soon be packed up and shoved in the garage if he were mine!!! As you say Jane, B@@@y nerve!!!

Could you let me know if it's possible to use a DVD recorder with Sky please Liz. I'm sure the channels we watch are all the free ones, so if it's possible I might as well get rid of my subscription and record onto DVD instead. I must admit the hard drive on our Sky isn't very good, it fills up so quickly so recording onto DVD might give us more programmes to watch. I hope you find the answers you are looking for as Curry's didn't sound to helpful.
I put the boots and shoes in the bin Mandy as breathing in the mould spores are dangerous. Everything has been cleaned and hopefully with the false floor I made to put at the bottom of the wardrobe I won't have anymore problems. I put lots of kitchen rolls underneath the false floor incase any damp occurred so that it would soak it up, it would take long for me to replace the kitchen roll if needed. I also put some washing soap powder into a container without a lid underneath the false floor too, to make it smell better. I also though the soap power might soak up any damp too. Whether it'll work remains to be seen, but I thought it was worth a try. Sorry to hear you're both still unwell, it must be getting you down now. I hope it clear for you both soon <3
I managed an hour's sleep this afternoon Frank so hopefully I won't fall asleep through the Big Brother Marathon ;-) It's nice that Simon is ringing you to see how you are, he sounds a lovely man. Pleased to hear your throat is starting to feel a bit better, lets hope the cough goes soon too.
I'm starting to worry about Ann too Jane, could you let us know if she's okay when you ring her please? Your niece's OH is a bit cheeky isn't he? That must of been a shock for her.
Going to get a cuppa now, I'm so thirsty today.

Morning all
Damp here today, but a bit warmer.
How is your OH getting on with the loft Mel, has he almost finished yet? I bet you'll both be glad when it's all done. What are you crafting at the moment?
How is your niece today Jane. Maybe she could have the locks changed, that would stop him coming around, having showers. I do think he's got a cheek and it must be so upsetting for your niece too. How is Finn now?
I hope it doesn't rain when you go out for your anniversary meal today Liz. It's nice to have a treat every now and then isn't it?
I was just thinking before, I haven't been out of the bungalow since the day before Christmas Eve.
The wheelie bins go out more than I do LOL.
I don't suppose this damp horrible weather helps, you don't feel like going anywhere when it's like that.
Hope all the ill people had a decent nights sleep and are starting to feel a bit better now. There seems to be so many bugs going around at the moment. Roll on the spring.
OH is starting to feel better now. I think I've taken the bug off him, although he did say to me it would get worse as the time passes.......lovely to know....NOT. He still has this pain in his side so he's hoping the appointment for the scan doesn't take to long to come through so he'll know either way if it's stones or not.
I hope your appointment doesn't take to long to come through Frank. I can see how much pain OH is in so can only imagine how you are. I think the worse part for OH and probably you too Frank, is he can't get comfortable, apart from when he's laying in a warm bath, but he says as soon as he gets out of the bath the pain starts again. Hopefully it won't take to much longer for his appointment and then something can be done.
I didn't have a very good night last night, kept tossing and turning with all the achy feelings, so gave up and got up. I'm very thirst so drinking plenty which will probably do me some good as I don't seem to have much of an appetite. I had a bit of the shepherds pie last night, but not much, so if I don't feel like eating it today I'll freeze what's left over until I feel better as there is to much for Sandra to eat on her own. I hope Sandra doesn't come down with this bug next.
Nothing planned for today, I don't feel up to doing anything, so I'll just watch a bit of TV and relax.
What is everyone else up to today?

Good morning Gill, Mrl and the others
Not a good night again. Was in bed by 10.30 pm after taking more cough mixture. Not a lot of good came from that. By midnight I was still coughing continually , so got up and made a COT I then sat watching T.V until 5.00 am. Crept back to bed without disturbing Ros. Dropped off very quickly. Then next thing I know the phone is ringing 9.00 am. I was going to turn over but decided to get up. Ros was still in the bathroom talking to Jan. I told her I needed the loo, so out she came.
She has gone to meet Martine for the usual Saturday Morrison's and a coffee and chat. She will bring lunch home with here.
Harvey rang last night to see how I got on at the hospital Ros told him the story and said we will let him know when I go again.
He made us laugh. Julia was lying in th bath, when "HENRY" the new cat got in through a part open door. He decided to hop up onto th back of the bath. On there are little glass ornaments that he decided to flick with his paws, into the bath. You guessed it He went A over HEAD into the water. Julia called Harvey and he wrapped him in a towel and dried him off. Another lesson of life learnt for the little kitten lol lol
Glad that it seems Mandy and Colin are coming out the other end of this horrible cold/flu thing. It's nice the children are keeping in touch, and that Max seems to understand that things are different. BLESS HIM.
Gill for what it's worth, all you can do is stay away from Glynn as much as you can. The trouble is germs travel so easy in a closed environment. I know, as Ros is now complaining about a sore throat. Just hope it doesn't develop into what I have, or we will be in a right old mess.
Jane, I could understand your Nieces husband coming to collect more cloths, but to have a shower and leave his dirty ones is a complete NO NO. I think she should put then in a carry bag, with a note, to get his washing done where he is living or go the Laundry shop in he town.
Horrible morning here. Wet and cold. My shower should warm me up and I will put a jumper on when I dress.
