We drove south today to a garden centre at Beethsm for coffee. We went across the lake by car ferry the fells we drove through were shrouded in mist but had a certsin different type of beauty. Both daughter and SiL now have my cough (daughter) or cold (SiL) I am still coughing but not so much now.
It has been foggy all day here. But the lake was clear. There are a lot of hardy walkers up here despite the damp and murky conditions.
We have just been listening to carols from Kings on the radio so it is Christmas.

I expect if he was working today and mending cars Stu might not have been able to let you know sooner Mel or maybe his ex didn't let him know sooner if she changed the time. It's the eating that late that I couldn't manage these days.

Your kitchen will be smelling nice with the Turkey cooking Mandy! Now I'm using the enormous tin, I've decided to cook mine tomorrow. it's ready just to pop in the oven, which OH usually gets up to do, but to be safe and having to line it up to slide the tin on the runners I think it's best we both carry it. I cooked the gammon, but my word it really shrank and I could tell by OH's face he was thinking there wasn't much and I won't be freezing half for New Year's Day like I usually do! lol. I expect the younger grandchildren in particular are very excited now and I was imagining young Lewis's face when he sees his bike. :-D

I poached 4 eggs from the farm shop earlier and all 4 had double yolks which was a surprise.

I missed you there AnnG. I love those misty scenes, especially when the mist hangs above the ground. It's a shame your daughter and SIL seem to have got the bug now, but good that your cough is getting better. Has Inara had the same which is why she hasn't been well? My hairdresser has joined a walking group and they meet up in the Lake District as well as other areas. She seems to go in all weathers so they seem a hardy lot that do these hikes.

My mistake BIL is picking me up tomorrow at about 11am not Stu.. Senior moment girls. I could have done so much today too but I have done quite a lot. I collected the flowers from the shop as they had'nt sold them I gave one to Beccy my neighbour when I took the card and pressy up for tiny daughter and I shall keep one and took the other up the church.

To all the usual posters on the thread and **Ann**, LaGooner and Florence, plus anyone else who looks in from time to time, I wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas.

Our Christmas will, of course, be quieter than usual but daughter says her partner loved Christmas and for that reason she wants to make it as normal as possible under the circumstances

I hope everyone with coughs, colds, aches and pains feels OK for the big day.

Has he been?

Dull and dreary here and 9 degrees. Hope you all have a lovely day with lots of pressies.

Get well wishes to SIL Anng. Hope he's not too bad on Christmas day.

BIL coming about 11 and I must get on as I promised pigs in blankets and did'nt get them done yesterday.

It was quite a walk in the pitch black last night to Kate's and Stu had a torch but it was not too good.We went in the BMW and I had a job to climb up in it as it was so high. Then the walk to Kate's and them two lots of steps up to the house. It was a lovely dinner and well worth the walk and climb. The turkey was so moist and delish, there was roast pots, squash, carrots, broccoli, leeks sprouts and stuffing and pigs in blankets and I took some too. They all got eaten. Lots of laughter and we could'nt start dinner till we had pulled the crackers.

Sounds like you had a really lovely time Mel. Meal sounds delicious.

Annx Report 25 Dec 2024 14:20

Afternoon All,

Dull here too and strangely quieter than usual with no car movements. We were up to put the turkey on just before you AnnG, but didn't get up till after 10.00am as we were so tired. We managed our planned manouvres with the big tin without hurting or burning ourselves and the turkey was one of the best we've had according to OH. As usual no room for any pud so we are both relaxing till the King's Speech now when OH has finished washing up what's left that doesn't go in the dishwasher. I may watch Terry later as he's playing from his lounge today then watch tv together. OH will have his nose in some of his new books!

Mel I hope you have room for another large meal today! It sounds like you had a good time yesterday and those high vehicles are hard for us little uns to get into. Remember the friend who took me to see her ponies in the snow and me hanging onto the seat and dashboard to climb in and then slithering to the ground hanging on to get out again. Hers was only a small 4x4 as well.
